Turn pants for diapers into pants for undies
When a little person makes the transition from diaper to underwear (check out my boy's underwear from t-shirts), all of a sudden his old pants don't fit anymore. Manufacturers make clothing for use with diapers not only wider in the bum area, but also with a lower crotch to accommodate the extra bulk.
In the above picture you can see the difference in crotch placement in pants for 2 years (with diaper) and pants for 3 years (without diaper). But as the pants are the same length from hem to waist, I decided to just move the crotch upwards to not only get rid of the extra crotch room, but also lengthen the legs.
I've posted a full tutorial on my blog, but here's a quick summary of the process. You lay the pants on top of each other, inside out. You need to make sure the inner seams and crotch seams are lying flat and that the bottom hems and crotch seams of both pairs are perfectly lined up.
You trace the new shape that you want on one pant leg, using the top pair as a guide. Pin and cut up to the crotch seam
Fold pants in half at the crotch seam and cut the other leg the same as the first one.
Sew up one leg, across the crotch and down the other leg. Turn right side out and now they're big kid pants!
You can see the difference in the crotch placement in the before (top) and after (bottom).
Now they fit a whole lot better and are much more comfortable for running and playing around! Full tutorial with all the little details on my blog, Cucicucicoo!

I think moving the crotch seam is a clever idea to extend the life and length of trousers
