Boxers or Sleep Shorts:
*Made from Pre-retirement stash that does not fit the Retirement lifestyle.
*Fit the need for more at-home lounge clothes. Retirement has some benefits!!!
Before: Shorts from end of summer closet.
After: Heavier weight cotton sleep shorts to wear with t-shirts.
Steps:
*Remove waistband/ zipper/ pockets. Top stitch and serge seams as needed.
*Lace/ Elastic: Make narrow hem on waist. Stitch lace. Do not make a casing for elastic. Stitch a very wide elastic.
What I Learned: I top stitched very wide elastic because the fabric is heavier.
This made a paper bag waist.
After: Sleep / Lounge Shorts |
Waist band removed. Vey wide elastic stitched. |
After: Lace on hem. |
Before: Shorts from end of summer closet. |

Tell you what 'girl': gradually I'm considering to pass on the 'once-upon-a-time' to me presented order for
even being soooo very thrifty, to 'skin even a louse and not only a small mouse' ;-) !!!
Geez you know quite many of ways to 'skin a cat' ;-) !
LG, Gerlinde
PS: it's a valuable one since coming from my mother
The lace really changes these shorts in a great way. I've been musing about adding lace to my clothing ever since your nightgown post where you identified that lace is the magic ingredient for you. Thanks for that!
Lace IS the magic ingredient! It so changes these worn out shorts to something useful and CUTE! Love :)
