Asymmetric Stripes

My uniform of late has consisted primarily of over-sized sweaters, fleece leggings, and boots. I'm all about comfy-cozy as it gets chillier. I found this stripey sweater in the men's section of the thrift shop a few months back and have been eagerly awaiting sweater weather to show it off in its new form.

Asymmetric Striped Sweater - Before

I used a well-fitting raglan sweater from my closet to trace out a pattern, then cut it out on the angle on the body of this sweater. I knew I wouldn't be able to match the sleeve stripes at both shoulders, but that just adds to the asymmetry!

Asymmetric Striped Sweater - After

Cutting raglan sleeves out of the original set-in sleeves shortened them a touch, making for a nice bracelet length. I was able to reuse the collar exactly as it was, and I left one side seam open for a few inches at the bottom for a little side slit. My new sweater is just the right length to wear over leggings.
