The Dress is Too Small

Hello Refashion Co-op. This is a busy time of year but it also a great time to create a new outfit for holiday gatherings. This yellow and red dress caught my eye. I thought it would fit but it didn't. It fit my dress form but not the real me. The top was much too tight but the bottom of the dress fit perfect. You can guess what I did next, right?

I unpicked the stitches that attached the bottom of the dress to the top of the dress. It was pretty fast and easy. I shortened the zipper by simply cutting off the excess.

I left about 1/2 an inch and folded that in and to the side. I stitched it down and that was it.

I also turned that raw edge in and stitched that down as well.

The skirt fit great and stayed up really well with just the zipper. I could add a hook and eye closure to give it more hold if needed. I wore this out in public and it was fine.

Thanks for reading, now go make something fun for yourself.

Wow! What a sharp look. Great save. Imagine the disappointment of not being able to re-fashion and loosing this dress.
