I had so much fun yet experienced so much frustration with this refashion. I've been wanting to make a skirt out of a men's shirt for the longest time now. I had even been collecting some for a while for this sole purpose. Once I finally got around to making it, I didn't like it. My first version had an elastic waist and it looked wonky and weird. So, I took it apart and created a waistband out of a sleeve instead. Another thing I did was attach a layer to lengthen the skirt. Lastly, I added a fabric flower from the shirt fabric and other coordinating patterns/colors. It has a sort of vintage/Victorian feel, in my opinion. Probably because of the stripes, the gathering on one side, and the lace. I plan to make more skirts since I still have a big stash of men's shirts. :)

Very nice take on an often attempted refashion. I have made a few, and let me tell you - this inspires me! Well done. 😉
Loving this skirt. The new waistband is perfect.
This skirt is awesome. I have had the same trouble with elastic waistbands.
