I do the exact same thing.
I make lot's of stuff for the kids and buying new elastics costs me more than I want to.
But my husband his boxers go bad before the elastics do so I started to re-use them in pajama pants. When that turned out great I started using them on every other project I needed them for.
So nice to have the elastic for free now =D
