A LONGER CAMI

My name really is: Cari Frock

I love wearing camis and adding leggings, but the camis have to be long enough.
Hence the following:

Cut 2 strips wide white lace

Attach the lace

Love those elastic bands

My name really is: Cari Frock
and I LOVE to sew

Somebody keeps losing the bands on their undies to my refashionings.

Removal of the band

The sewing of the band.

I am currently wearing those leggins and it is SOOOO nice that they are securely staying in place.

ANOTHER SHIRT TO BE LENGTHEN

THIS TIME WITH SIDES ADDED

My name really is:
Cari Frock
and I love to sew.

starter shirt

square scarf (from the Good Will by-the-lb, it had a hole. I picked it up and said: FABRIC-cool!)

Added to front & back

This was an 'as-found' at the Good Will-by-the-lb. I cut it in half, shaped it to be symmetrical and used the dangling trim to finish the seams I created.

Added the 2 new scarf pieces to each side

Finished, LOVE IT. Will be using this addition trick again.Til next time...happy stitching!!

From 6 tiers to 5

My name really is: Cari Frock
and I love to sew.

This is the 100% cotton 6-tiered dress.

I cut off the bottom tier leaving a 1/2" to turn and hem.

That is the length of the 6th tier that was removed

Because of a back zipper, the tiers were back seamed. So I opened all the seamed, hemmed and restitched it all.

A little trim was added to the last sheer tier.

The dress came with an added extra, a threaded snap for the bra strap. Nice!

A close up on the sheer layer that is now without a liner (cuz I hemmed it short)

And the final 5-tiered dress ready to be worn with leggings.

The Remaking of a T-dress

The Remaking of a T-dress

My name really is:  Cari Frock

 and

 I LOVE to sew.

Found this at the local Good Will

When it was at home I noticed the missing beads.
Thought it was a 'ready to wear' item.
It became
'an opportunity for creativity'.

And here is the asymmetrical redesign of the beads
Silk beaded blouse to be used.

Beading detail

AND then my phone broke before I could save the rest of the pics.
SO, to recap, I cut the hem off at an angle and attached it at the waist for a peplum.
Then, for interest, I added  a couple of pieces of the silk beaded blouse and several different trims.
The only thing left to do is lose about 10 more lbs so it will fit.
(And, truthfully, if you look closely, you will find that the bottom brown trim is still only pinned.)

Jacket to Tunic vest

My name really is  Cari Frock

 and

 I LOVE to sew.

This jacket was given to me by my sister.
Way too big for me.
Decided to do a long tunic vest.
So step 1 was to remove the sleeves.
Changed the nehru collar.

Neckline done and the extra button will be moved to the bottom when the extra fabric is added.

Knowing I wanted to lengthen the vest, I cut the removed sleeves in half lengthwise.

Used paper to pattern the additional fabric.

The fabric that was cut out was then added to the 1st addition.

Added beaded trim with the 1st addition and black trim with the 2nd.

Was able to retain the side pockets, bonus.
