For most of my life, I've worn really simple, boring clothes. I am a sign language interpreter, so my shirts need to be a solid, darkish color as a background for my hands. I'm starting to realize that there are ways to add color and interesting elements to my work wardrobe. When I'm at home with the kids, my clothes can be fun AND comfortable at the same time! Most of my "projects" are really fast and easy, and I'm always looking for more ideas that make a big impact.
A quick project I worked on this week was a soft, knit belt to change up an old maternity dress. I love the purple color, but needed to get past my "maternity wear" mindset. The belt is so comfy and shows that I actually do have a waist.
I fiddled around with it and decided to close it in the back with some velcro.
Or I can wear it around my neck. A versatile little piece!
Fall weather is here in New York, and I'm happy to pull out my ultimate comfy clothes: leggings, tall boots and cardigans, and find ways to mix things up.

I love the versatility of this refashion being used as a belt or scarf. Plus it is extending the use of your old maternity dress. Thank you for sharing and welcome to Refashion Co-op.
