I have had this dress that I thrifted for ages now and wasn't sure what to do with it. The yoked bust area was just too snug and made me look like I was wearing a maternity dress. Also it was a bit too short, but I love the fabric and the pattern so it stayed on my refashion pile which never seems to get any smaller no matter how many refashions I do. What's up with that? Oh, yeah, I keep buying new pieces to refashion. Silly me!
Anyways, I just decided to hack the fabric off under the yoke and use that to make a top that I could throw over shorts or a skirt for a quick summer outfit. Once the fabric was chopped off, I just folded it in half and laid a t-shirt top that already fits me and chopped away. Then it was just a simple matter of sewing it up.
Here is the first incarnation. I didn't like the way the neck sat so high on me, it wasn't flattering. So using a bit of one of the scrap sleeves as facing fabric, I made a bit of a slit in the front of the , stitched it down and now I like how it fits much better.
So here is the second incarnation of the dress to top refashion with the new neckline.
Here is the neckline in closeup and any good sewist will see that the sides aren't quite even, but I am okay with that. What do you think of my dress to top refashion? Cheers, Michele. Check out my blog Here!!

The fabric is gorgeous, beautiful colour combination, and you must have some left too! It looks good as a top.
Lovely fabric. I like the new neckline.
