I found this striped jumper the other day at a thrift store and really liked the cotton stretch fabric, the button front, and the stripes. I didn't like, however, much of anything else.
I thought with a little bit of rearranging, it would make a fun and comfortable tunic. I cut away the skirt and used the fabric to lengthen the bodice and add sleeves.
I thought that changing the direction of the stripes on the added piece would make things interesting.
I made the back addition slightly longer than the front.
It was a pretty simple transformation, but now it's much more wearable!

Is this a stretchy knit? You seem to have amazingly smooth seams! Can you tell us a little about how you did the sleeves? Did you use a pattern you already had? I love this idea.
Thanks Donna! Yes, it is a stretch knit, but not a lycra, so not a lot of stretch. As for the sleeves, I used an existing t-shirt that I liked for a guide. I cut the sleeves in a way that used the existing hem of the original jumper so that I wouldn't have to hem them again.
So cute! I like how you changed the direction of the stripes too.

Super cute! I love how you switched the direction of your stripes--the new direction gives it a great fresh look.
Super cute transformation!!
