Baking in style

Just in time for the holidays!

I started with this dress and this button down shirt...



Cut out the pieces to construct the apron...













And voila!



time to bake in style!

Work it out...capri style.

These athletic pants were too long for my petite frame...and a first attempt at shortening them was still not working.



So...I got to cutting and sewing. I cut off a few inches...but kept the important pieces and added a few more.



The lime stripes moved to the back...and I added a gray stripe to the bottom front to match the waistband.

  

...a perfect fit!

purple polka dot sweatshirt

one of my favorite sweatshirts had an unfortunate stain....

 

so I covered it with this purple polka dot material from an old nightgown...

 

and voila! 

    

perfect for lounging on a Saturday night!

refashion skirt fail turned shirt dress success!

I tried to make the bottom half of this shirt dress into a skirt with a waistband from an old pair of jeans
   

loved it....but....


the waistband and the button band didn't match up. #refashionfail

so....i chopped off some length on the skirt and on an old striped cotton shirt...


and made a shirt dress instead!


here it is styled it with a new pair of oxfords and a blazer!

it seemed like something was missing on this simple t-shirt refashion, so i gave it a little more dimension!

I took parts of old tops (sleeves and a pocket) and added them to new tops in order to create something unique.

This was a request from a friend. She wanted a simple split open front for this dress so she could wear it with leather pants instead of leggings. If only everything was this easy!

teenie bopper jean jacket refashion

I've had this jean jacket for about 10 years and it wasn't getting much wear.

and this hoodie from the thrift store wasn't being worn either.

so after being inspired by today's fashion....

I removed the sleeves from the jean jacket and both the sleeves and hood from the hoodie...and combined the two.

and here's the result...

new to the group - first refashion post

Hey...I'm Amy! I'm new to this co-op blog, but I have been following for awhile. Sewing has been a hobby of mine since I was a teen, but I started refashioning clothes from my closet and thrift stores over the past few years. I'm currently interested in starting my own blog, but am not quite ready. So thanks for the opportunity to be a part of this one.

Here is one of my first refashions from quite a few years ago. Sorry about the pictures...pretty sure they were taken on a digital camera. ha.

I started with two shirts and a skirt.
 

Then, I shortened the striped shirt and added the band from the yellow shirt.


And turned it into a dress.
