Third life of my maternity t-shirt.

Hi all!

I didn't make or re-make things much lately but the refashion mojo has just striked back when I started to work out again, about 2 years after I gave birth to my second girl. 

I have many t-shirts from my maternity time lay around, comfy but not so flatter on me at the moment (still have 3 kg left and a permanent muffin top tummy).

This t-shirt was refashioned once by stencil on its front. I decided to give it the 3rd life with the easiest way, cut out t-shirt.

 

This is a no sew and very easy refashion which you can find its how-to floats around Pinterest. I recommend using a quiet big t-shirt for this project to get the loose tank top as the result. Mine is size L and end up fit for me.

 

I found the work out tank tops are pricey and plan to refashion more of my t-shirt. I hope it will turn out well and I will share with you again.

Over-sized tee to summer dress

It's always summer here. This is a good reason for making summer dress all year round. Even better if make it from wrong size t-shirt from clearance section. And this is the easy refashioned for my active girl.

Lengthen her skirt

My 5 years girl was growing up like a weed during this year but only taller with the same circumstance. Many skirts of her need to be lengthen, including this jean skirt.

I've only sewn 3 layers of ruffle trims to the hem and re-attached the lace trim on top. It's as easy as that!

The skirt has an extra year of useful life, my girl still has her favorit skirt to wear. I call it a win-win solution. Yeah! For refashion.

Chinese new year T-shirt dress for my girl

According to Chinese zodiac, this year symbol is the goat. Which is the cute animal by my girl's mean. So, re-fashion an adult size t-shirt to her goat-dress is a good idea. She love it!

I have to start with the oversize one. Because the girl demand knee length dress.

So easy and result is such a comfy dress!

Girly nightgown

I didn't blog for a long period with the typical reason, nursing baby. Well, as much as I hope I can manage to sew anything, I can not get things done except this quick project.

I've got this nightgown from flea market. Not intended to wear it myself but I bought it aiming to refashion to something and finally did it!

I made it to be a nightgown but the girl like it so much and wear it as a lounge wear around the day. She always want maxi dress and she think this is her cozy maxi.

The blue flower on her chest is made from felt. I made it to cover small print on tank top. I still have the top part of the dress. It will going to be matching outfit for the baby when I've got time to hack it.

Skirt from husby's shirts

Hi there! This is the transform project which I'm so sorry not to took the photo along the process. I've ever didn't take a before photo but you can imagine any 2 shirts as material for doing this.

You have just to make sure that two collars from both shirt can wrap around your waist. What I have done is use the seam ripper to take apart of collars from shirt and use them as waist band. I cut the lower part of shirts to make the skirts part, connect them at their button plankets. Then gather the skirt and sew it to the ex-collars waist band. Voila! Got the cool skirt.

Easy girl maxi skirt from my top

Hi all,

As I've a new baby who doesn't seem to like a nap. My project from now on should be a very FAST sewing as this one.

This zebra is used to be my over-size top. With some stitchs, now it turned to be a girl's maxi skirt!

I have just closed the arm holes and created elastic cast at the neck hole. Then added elastic band, done!

Bonus! It's a super twirly maxi skirt.

Hi all, this is a no sew refashion!

I can't believe that I could squeeze myself in this tiny tee when I was in University. It's extra small!

I can never wear it again, so it better go to my little girl instead. With the very easy cut and NO sew...

We got a crop top for the girl in a short breath!

Panda tunic from T-shirt

Hi all!
This is very simple and easy project to make with your old t-shirt. I made this for my animal-lovers girl last year.

Start from my own t-shirt...

Adding cute panda applique and casting at the neck opening.

Pop up the color with little bow + button and we were done!

Easy peasy!

Upcycled : Tablecloths to a mullet skirt for party

Last year, I made this mullet skirt from tablecloth.

I've got this tablecloths from nearby local flea market. At first sight, I know it would become my new skirt and I will wear it to the summer party.

This sheer, oval shape fabric came with ruffle lace hem. The seller told me that it will perfectly charm on the rectangle or oval shape table... I don't think so, it would look better hanging on my waist. :)

Husby's shirt + Granny's sarong to my new dress

Do you know sa-rong? It is a tube of fabric usually wearing in South Asia, including Thailand. It's one part of our traditional costume.

I got this sa-rong from mother in law's fabric stach. The elderly trend to wear them in normal life while the young generation mostly wear them on special occasion and some festival.

Before

  So, together with my husby's working shirt that he passed it to my fabric pile. I've created something that I would more often wear on daily basic, the shirt dress.

On process

It's turn out well. I can still wearing it during my first and second period of my pregnancy. I think the sa-rong and shirt would happy to have their second life together and be worn under the sun again.

Shirt dress refashion for little girl

Hello all,

It is about refashion for my little girl again. This time I started with my own button up shirt (size S).

Before : The girl surely doesn't fit in mommy's shirt

After re-sized the shirt, I added eyelet laces at both sides to created the wings. Then curved up the hem. I did the casting at collar for ribbon. Here's the result:

After : The girlie button up shirt.

Now she can flyyyyy.

T-shirt to girl boatneck dress with her stencil

Hi all,

Here in this part of the world is in the school summer break. My girl want to participate in any project I would make for her. Here comes the kid's stencil plus mommy's refashion.

We've started with the plain white t-shirt. My favorite strated material.

My part is to cut and sew it. I used the beachy boatneck pattern  from blank slate pattern. The bottom hem was added to add the color to the dress.

Then it comes the fun part for my girl, we selected the cute rabbit outline from internet. I use the freezer paper to created the stencil and let her painted by herself. 

And we got this adorable & comfortable dress. The girl is so pround of herself in her new stencil outfit.

I was also having fun stencil my own plain t-shirt for my pregnancy as well. Freezer paper stencil is so easy and fun!

Refashion: Men polo to my tee dress

Hello all,

This is the item that I made for a while. Currently,  me and my sewing machine were taking a rest due to my morning sickness which is not present only in the morning. But I hope to do some maternity refashion in soon.

I've got this too big polo from clearance sales.

Before: XXL polo shirt

I've remade it to a mini tee dress by get both sides in and created new neckline with the eyelets collar.

After : mini tee dress

I was satisfied by the result. What do you think?
