Faded Jeans to Kid's (or adult!) Play Crown

It's tricky to get much refashionable fabric out of a smaller size pair of faded jeans, so I thought for a while if this pair was worth keeping. I'm glad I did! I chopped it up and turned it into a play crown for my toddler son.

I shared the tutorial and free pattern; there are pieces to extend it so it would fit an adult easily. I'd love to see this turned into a boho fashion accessory - unfortunately I am hugely pregnant and mainly living in yoga pants and sweatshirts so I can't make it work for myself!
I normally blog at Swoodson Says but this was a contributor post, so download the pattern and see the tutorial at Creative Green Living!

Plain Grungy Sweatshirt to Ugly Christmas Maternity Sweater

I'm not sure if it's a "thing" outside of the U.S. but I can always tell when Ugly Christmas sweater party invites go out because the aisles at Goodwill get crowded! I was invited to DIY an ugly sweater with Tulip glitter products (so the post is sponsored; don't want anyone to be surprised/irritated if they click over!) and made a quick tutorial for how to make this sweatshirt, maternity style.

I think making your own ugly sweater is even more fun than hunting for a "real" one! Tutorial & a few detail shots on my blog, Swoodson Says, here.

30 minute Freezer Paper Stencil Refashion

You've heard of freezer paper stencils, right! I usually see them used for kid's clothes but I'm all about them for adults too. I used a boring tester garment and added a baseball-style graphic in under 30 minutes.

Gathered Waist Dress to Empire Waist Maternity Tunic Refashion

I'm pregnant with my second kiddo so I've been revisiting all the ideas I had for refashioning maternity clothes! This one is super simple; just shifting the waist up and adding two strips of elastic to gather:

Sewing Optional Winter Cowl Refashion

If you live in the United States it might be getting chilly in your neighborhood! I am ready for fall and love digging through the racks for soft wool sweaters. This is a super quick and easy refashion - I just chop the sweater body off! If you'd like picture instructions or more pictures, check out my blog post.

Silk Button Up Refashion

This refashion isn't mind  blowing - I simply cut up a large man's shirt, flipped it backwards, and cut out the Grainline Studios Scout Tee pattern, and sewed it up again. But, I know sometimes I'm inspired by a certain fabric or look so hopefully this refashion will do that for you!

The before!
The after!

Five Minute Maternity Skirt Refashion

I've been digging through some of my archives for projects to share because I know how expensive maternity clothes can be! This is probably my favorite maternity refashion because it is so insanely quick and could easily be done by someone without a sewing machine.

The project's success is a little dependent on finding the right style sundress with shirring; a more advanced sewist could simple buy a bigger t-shirt and shir it themselves! A few (bad, old) pictures and instructions on my blog.

Introduction & 1 Silk Maxi Skirt Refashioned 3 Ways

Hi! I'm Stephanie and I blog at SwoodsonSays.com about things I sew and craft for myself & my family. Refashioning motivated my start in sewing and I love doing it!

One of my most recent refashions has the before & after pictures all together in one shot - I cut up one silk maxi skirt and used it three different ways to refashion three tops!

I share steps to recreate each look with more pictures in this post here, I look forward to sharing more refashions with the Refashion Co-op!
