No Sew Jean Skirt Refashion

Hello! This week I updated a thrift store jean skirt that I scored for $3. It is an easy new sew refashion that only took a few hours of the afternoon. I put together a quick video about the changes.

Vintage Tablecloth to Peplum Top

Hello! I have been fabric busting and came across this vintage tablecloth in my stash. I thought it'd be perfect for a summer refashion project.

Flannel Button Down to Crop Top

Hello! I just refashioned a shirt I received from the restyling exchange! It is a big clothing exchange where we sent off an item of clothing to someone else to refashion and send back to us!

The Before

I received a flannel button-down shirt that I chopped up to make a crop top and send back to the girl who sent it to me! If you haven't heard of it, I'd recommend you look it up on Instagram with the hashtag #restylingexchange2017

 After

I made it much smaller and added a ruffle to the top. I love gingham for spring/summer this year. I was so happy to see this pattern when I opened the bag!

Hawaiian Muumuu to Ruffle Shift Dress Refashion

Hello! I've been working on some Spring sewing so I put together this Hawaiian Muumuu refashion.

Before & After

This was the muumuu before I cut it apart and ironed it flat. 

Then I pinned one of my new favorite patterns to it. I omitted a lot of the steps, but stuck with the main pattern for getting the shape and style of the dress I wanted.

Easy Peplum Shirt Refashion

Hello again! I have been working on a few really simple refashions. I hope to work on some more difficult projects soon. I found this too large linen shirt and turned it into a peplum. 

Its super simple, just involves cutting off the bottom, gathering it, and sewing it back on. I love gingham right now so I can't wait to wear this shirt all Spring. 

Here you can see that I had to take the top part in, in order to creat enough of a difference to make the peplum happen. You can read more about it at the Crafty Disaster.

Simple Jean Jacket Refashion

Hello! I'm Lindsay from the Crafty Disaster.

I put together this quick refashion inspired by a pinterest post I saw a long time ago.

Once I came across this lace curtain at GW I knew exactly what to do with it.

The steps were really easy, first I serged the end off the curtain. Then I fed it through my ruffler foot attachment. Last I just had to attach it to the jean jacket, also thrifted.

The Crafty Disaster: Wicked Witch Refashion

Halloween is just around the corner, so I spent the last weekend working on my costume. It turned out to be my most favorite refashion I have ever done! 

Both of the dresses were thrifted, one from Goodwill and the other from a dress sale in high school.

I wanted the bottom from one and the top from the other to make the perfect Halloween Costume. 

It took the whole day Saturday to pull together but I love how it turned out.

Hello! This week I made an old dress into the perfect chambray shirt over on my blog. It was inspired by a  pin on my Pinterest! All I had to do was chop it off and serge up the pockets and it turned into the perfect shirt!!!!

The Crafty Disaster: Quick Fix - Frumpy to Stylish Refashioned Skirt

Hello again! Its Lindsay from the Crafty Disaster. This week I did a quick fix to turn a frumpy thrift store skirt into something more stylish and fitting. Everyone has seen those bunchy, elastic waist skirts at thrift stores, I just happened to find one I love the fabric of! 

It was too bad that I didn't like the bunched waist, so I just had to refashion it!

The Crafty Disaster: Ugly Christmas Sweater

Hello, its Lindsay from the Crafty Disaster! Its that time of year again for ugly sweater parties, a.k.a. the perfect time to make your own sweater. I scored this plain black sweater at Goodwill and transformed it into the perfect ugly sweater (I totally won the ugly sweater contest too)!

The Crafty Disaster: Refashioned Bridesmaid Dress Into Scarf

Hello again! I have had this dress since my BFF's wedding this summer. I had no intentions of wearing it again, at least not as a dress! This was a simple refashion to turn a lace dress into the perfect thick lace scarf for the up and coming cold weather. Now I can wear it well into winter.

The Crafty Disaster: Coat Refashion + Introduction

Hello! I am Lindsay from the Crafty Disaster. I just started my DIY blog a little over a month ago for a class I am taking at school. I am a crafter at heart and like to make anything I can. Sewing is definitely my favorite form of crafting and what better way to recycle than to refashion! I hope to share many more of my refashioning projects in the future. 

I just shared a tutorial this past week on refashioning a coat into the perfect mad-hatter's costume. It consisted of a dye job, some iron-on patches, and some light sewing.
