An easy fix

I love the looser style of dress that has become popular. It is so nice during the summer months when it is very hot outside as well! I find these looser fitting dress at thrift stores all the time and the material is so comfortable.

So with a simple cut of the skirt and rolling up the sleeves, I now have a new, comfy and it style dress for $1!

The perfect short dress

I found this amazing cotton dress and loved the pattern. The sleeves were the perfect length but it was just a little too long to be worn in my daily life.

With a simple cutting of the length, I now love this dress!

From White Blah to Tie Dye Blue!

I was in search for the perfect fun beach cover up when I came across this white cotton dress.

I cut a portion off the bottom and using Rit Dye, tie dyed it and wala! New beach cover up perfect for a day at the ocean!

Too Tiny to Pretty in Pink!

I found this dress that was a really pretty pink color. But it had one tiny problem... it didn't zip up at all.

I let out the seams in the top and then cut out the middle to make it short but full. 

I love the way it turned out!

Purple Dress Refashion

Hi! I was attending an event where I needed to wear a long purple formal gown.

I started with this dress that has this AMAZING shoulder bow but a really awkward middle. I tried cutting it apart and placing it differently but after 2 hours, I decided the middle needed to leave permanently. 

with the middle removed, I took the bottom which was a circle skirt and added it back.

The result was really fun to wear and twirl around in!

The Red Valentine's Day Dress

I found this slightly too big long red dress and thought it would be perfect to wear to a gala event that I was attending. Since it was so close to Valentine's Day, I really wanted to wear something red.

The gala wasn't fancy enough to wear a long dress to so I chopped off some of the length and then used the extra to make little flowers out of.

Beautiful Blue dress

I'm working on a project to remake gowns that look like bridesmaids dresses. I found this beautiful blue dress and discovered that it was handmade!

It didn't really fit and was a bit too large for my short frame so I decided to turn it into a crop top and skirt!

Turn a Plain Shirt into a Christmas Sweater!

I love the new trend of the tacky Christmas sweater! I wasn't, however, anticipating it being 75 degrees in December! Because of this, I had to think outside the box and make a tacky Christmas Shirt. I started with this thrifted red shirt. 

I grabbed a bunch of random things from a thrift store and sewed/glued them on. 

I think this "sweater" turned out pretty odd and fantastic. 

The bow saved this by giving it a touch of glam.

Dresses over Shirts!

I'm not sure why, but I have lately started loving wearing a dress over a shirt/sweater. I think it is because it has finally started getting cold! I worked on two, one being this long jean dress. I gave it a little trim and WA-La! Cute Dress!

And this long dress.

Which also got a simple chop.

Now it is perfect for my silly Thanksgiving Card!

Dress Remake

I was attending a baby shower this weekend and wanted something fun and flirty. This dress was fun, but had a lot going on. It had lace, a peplum, a bow around the "waist" and huge puffy sleeves.

The skirt on it was too tight, so I took off all of the unnessacary elements and sewed them together to make a larger/fuller skirt. 

This dress is made out of a really soft cotton so it was perfect to wear for our 4+ hour roadtrip to a baby shower!

Sleeves or No Sleeves?

While out with a fellow blogger, we came across this pretty cool Pilgrim Dress. I took a picture with it both backwards and forwards because I think it could actually be worn both ways.

With the removal of the collar and some of the length, I was still left with a delima on these sleeves. 

The sleeves were kinda cool but kind of itchy too... with the dress on right before going to a fashion shoot, I totally grabbed the scissors and started cutting!

Sometime the dress is just too Tight!

I purchased this brand new with tags (and totally vintage!) dress for .50cents. I was giving a really big speech in it and knew that I would be really nervous. The dress fit but was uncomfortably too tight everywhere! It zipped up...if I didn't breathe!

I let some of the seams out on the top, cut the skirt off and then used the inside lining of the skirt to make it fuller and more breathable :)

The lining was shiner than the other fabric but it gave it a bit of fun and sparkle!

The Shift Dress with Drop Waist

I was at a bag sale recently and found a ton of vintage drop waist dresses. They were all too big for me so I started looking around for how to change them. I started with this purple dress.

I found an inspiration dress that had a drop waist pleat on both sides. I cut my dress shorter and then added a pleat to the side. I only added one pleat because I'm pretty short and that would be way too much pleat.

Jean Dress Remake

I found a dress with an open and strappy back that I wanted to try recreating.

I cut the skirt in half to give it a fuller skirt and then cut the back open.

Mint Matching Bridesmaid Dress to Blue and Fabulous

I was in a bit of a panic because I was attending a wedding and the dress that I had been working on ended up just looking awful. I had this amazing mint dress dress which was fine, but it was also the same color as the bridesmaid dresses! ahhhh!

I grabbed some navy blue Rit-Dye and soaked it in cold water for one hour. I crossed my fingers because this dress is polyester and I had no idea if it would even hold dye!

The inner layer of this dress and some of the trim did not take any of the dye. The outer layer, however, dyed so nicely!!

The dress made out of scraps!

I found this awkwardly short top and decided to add some scrap material and then part of the bottom of this skirt.

I added them together and wala! A new dress.

Turning This Boring Blue Skirt into a Fun Flirty Skirt with Ric-Rack

I love transforming this plain Jane skirts into something better. This skirt is an amazing color and just cutting it shorter wouldn't do it justice...

This transformation was so simple! I chopped off some length from the the bottom and then grabbed some 1" Ric Rack. I sewed it to the bottom to give it some flair. 

I love the way the ric rack changed it and made a .10 cent skirt look so much more expensive!

The White and Black and Way Too Tight Gingham Dress

This dress was awkward and just way too tight. 

I cut off some of the length and had to add side panels of some fantastic shiny black fabric so it would fit better. The black pieces were a bit shorter than the rest of the dress so I rounded it. Now it fits perfectly and is no longer too tight!

One before dress for Two Afters

I love this dress! The pattern looked really pretty and it already fit so well. It was just...a lot of pattern for a little me. 

I decided to first cut the length shorter and see how I liked it. 

Then I seam ripped off the sleeves as well. I LOVE this dress now and will be wearing it soon...maybe tomorrow!

From a big Blah to 60's Mod

I found this two piece dress set and loved it because it is yellow! I have no need for a two piece set, so I took the top shirt off immediately!

I cut off a little length and used the extra to make a bow!
