Two Inches Too Short

This is one of my all time favorite blouses.  I sewed it from scratch last year  It fits really well in all dimensions except for one. It  needs to be 2 inches longer.

While searching for possibilities I noted Zappos is offering this simple white cotton blouse by Kate Spade.
                       

  

Solution   

 A  2 inch self ruffle, gathered at a 1.25 to 1 ratio.

What to do?

This is one of my all time fav blouses.  I sewed from scratch last year. The fabric is cotton. The design is a background of muted blueish gray and beige with an over print of arabesques.  The buttons are shell.

 It fits really well in all dimensions except for one. It  needs to be 2 inches longer.  I've been pondering how to add to the length with a simple, attractive detail at the hem.

Cropped top from skirt

 

Hi, this was my favorite skirt from about twenty pounds ago.  I love the retro style embroidered design, so it was remake time.

Taking it apart yielded  two panels of embroidered fashion fabric, a black poly lining  perfect for the neck facing, and a seven inch concealed zipper that I can use for another project.

   

 

 

 

 

                           

1. square up the fabric panel removing darts  
2. seamed panels together for front panel  cut back front another fabric, I used Kona cotton

3.copied the neckline from a similar blouse.  

4.drafted neck line facing  

5. sewed side seams, narrow hemmed bottom and arm holes
