Feeling 50's !

Hello good folks !

Vacation time for teachers in this neck of the woods is rapidly approaching.  I also have all my grading done, until the final exam so I have a bit of time on my hands.  I want to renew my clothes with my own creations.  I am in the midst of opening my own on-line boutique with upcycled designer clothes.  So I am experimenting with all sorts of types of clothes.

Today's experiment: the 50's !

Starting material: stretchy jeans in a skirt and skinny jeans.  Also a standard pillowcase (not pictured).

Here is what I ended up with:

Cute and youthful 50's cropped top from the pillowcase.

2-toned pants from the skirt and skinny jeans.

MIx and Match Tunic

Hi guys,

Here is another tunic : out-of-the-box pattern matching.

I started with three somewhat ugly skirts:

Very flimsy, crinkly extra thin fabric. (But a LOT of it !)

A thicker coton-y fabric with paisley-lace motif

Rayon with bold motifs.  Not exactly this one but similar.

And here is what I came up with:

Raglan fluttery sleeves, hi-lo bottom, pockets.   I LOVE this pattern and the weird use of different motifs.  I also like the bold fuchsia !

Here it is on me !

Many-Colored-Tunic

Hellooooo good people !

I have been on a reconstructing rampage because I finally found a style that is flattering for a lot of people: it is somewhat loose but still defined, has POCKETS (who does not LOVE pockets !) and is a bit whimsical because it is asymmetrical.

So I have a lot of lightweight-fabric clothing: skirts, dresses, blouses, made from crepe and other sheers.

So I started with 2 skirts and a dress, well actually its lining.
A rayon maxi skirt

One of those 90's wrap-around skirts...

The lining of this dress is actually violet...

So I like to mix and match patterns and I LOVE polka dots and 60's geometric patterns.

So here is the result:

The sleeves from the dress' lining and the polka dot from my stash.

I love the lines of this pattern and the deep asymmetrical pockets.  The slightly loose fit is very flattering for many shapes and size.  I am going to make a lot more in different sizes too.  I have a lot of colourful and bold fabrics.  Can't wait to have some time to sew because I have sewliltime !!!  You can get more information on my blog: sewliltime. :)

Some New Undies !

Hey folks !

So for today's refashion, I decided to show you the new undies I have made for some celebrities I went to see.  That is my new strategy.

So I started with normal t-shirts and tops:

It is for a couple so I used the Scrundlewear Pattern from Stitch Upon A Time for the lady and Jalie's boxers for the gent (unfortunately discontinued).

I also digitized an embroidery of the show's poster :

Here is what I came up with for the embroidery:

And then for the underwear:

I hope they will fit them  !!!  They are so cute and nice !!!

Peace !

New Asymmetrical Chiffon Cropped Top

Hey good people !

I have been working like a bee on my new spring-summer collection.

I have a lot of donated clothes of all sorts.  For this creation, I chose flowy and sheer crepe and rayon.  I have TONS of those types of clothes.

Here is what I started with:

Donated rayon dress - Loved the print !

Got this one at a church bazaar - crepe polka dots - LOVE !

Loved the bright colours of this flowy crepe top !

I made 2 asymmetrical tops.  The first one:

I think I should have put the sheer in the back to be able to wear it in public !!!

Here is the second one:

Love this one !  I brought pieces of the back in front for a slimming effect and increased the scoop for a more flattering result.  But I still have to master those darned French seams !!!

I like the second one better.  What do you think ? Would you buy this kind of top ?

New Model: Barbara Tunic

Hello folks !

I have been very busy sewing up a storm for a Fashion Show that I participated a couple of weeks  ago.  It was so much fun !  And now, I am registered in a Fall Fair so I must sew for that too.  Fortunately, I am off this week from school so I have time.

I worked from these sweaters:

Here is one of the model I made to sell:  It is called Barbara.

This is a XS size - it takes only 3 strips

This model is MED so it takes 4 strips.

And of course, they have POCKETS !!!

So, what do you think ?

New Boho Shirt from Boho Skirt

Hello people !

Today, a test that has potential.

I am exploring the boho style.  I know these kinds of patterns take a lot of fabric.  So I found a boho skirt made with LOTS of fabric:

You know the kind: flattering only to very THIN and TALL women, with NO HIPS !  Not my description at all !!!  This fabric is also very thin and crinkly so the cutting is a nightmare !

But here is the result:

Even if it is a test, and it is uneven, I really like its potential.  I will definitely make some more.  It is also 2 sizes too large for me !!!  I like the cut of it and it is whimsical enough for me.  More here.

Hope you like it !

Peace
