Retail to sweater

I bought a 1€ retail of grey fabric (unfortunately I did not took a photo). And then came this sweater:

I had to make additions:

I saw this effect somewhere in the internet and loved it!

Aqua-fying dye job

Got this dress at the thrift store for $2. And while I liked the pattern and fit. I wasn't wild about the color. So into a pot of Rit aqua dye it went.

Course the first time I wore it, the slit in the back decided to creep up an extra few inches. So now this dress is in the mending pile.

Tee Skirts for Spring

I've been making skirts like crazy and love how each one reveals itself as I go along sewing and designingThis one has an appliqued image from a kid's tee

I used up some of my thousands of scraps

and hid a very chopped up hem.

The button down skirts can be tricky to fit unlike the forgiving knits

I used up parts of a few shirts and more scraps

This piece from another shirt front gives an extra pocket on the hip.

Much of this skirt is from fabric that is new but was end of run or found at my local thrift store.          

The waist band is from the hem of a tee. I end up with a lot of circular pieces when

 I cut tees shorter to make waistbands for dresses.

Patterns galore and very Springy. Not a winter skirt at all.

Hoodie Sweatshirt transformation

So I had this hoodie that was bright teal on baby pink and very dated but great quality and in pristine condition - partly because it was rarely worn LOL!  Anyway I got the idea to make my Chihuahua Meisha, a new couch cover.  So basically I cut the hoodie off - will save that for another project. The body of the garment became the actually duvet cover and then the sleeves became the backpillow --just sewed them together with my interlocker- the bottom band offers easy access to remove the pillow  for laundering.  Hope you like it- Meisha thinks the fleece is extra cozy!

Plaid Skirt

I took a freebie skirt that I got from a coworker...
