Chocolate Tunic

Hello all !

This time, my refashion was for a special event with a group of girlfriends: A Chocolate Themed Evening !  Everything Chocolate, even the clothes !  Well, not a whole lot of brown in this lady's closet...  So, what better reason to sew a new piece to my tastes !!!

First things first: gotta get some raw material.  Off to Value Village  (my favorite spot !).  Here is what I started with:

A few ladies blouses in light fabric.

Here is what I came up with:

A very confortable and well fitting tunic just like this one.  Even though brown is NOT my favorite colour, I will definitely wear this one again !

Embroidered Vintage Linens into Summer Camisole Top

The great sewing room destash continues apace as I have been repurposing embroidered vintage linens into some summer camisole tops - above and below photos of a top with a tie front neckline.

I used basic self drafted patterns and then inserted a panel of patchwork which I had stitched using pieces cut from vintage doilies, tablecloths, traycloths etc.

Too Long Basketball Shorts Saved

#78 Back to School Wardrobe

REFLECTIONS:  We are home for the summer at the Texas RanchHouse with 100 plus weather.

• Shorts are the dress of the day.
• My Grandpa age husband felt these below the knee Basketball shorts were not his style.
• He wanted to toss, but I am still in a no new/thrifted clothes year, 

BEFORE: Husbands below the knee, too long Basketball shorts. 

STEPS:

• Before cutting; ran stitching to hold the shorts lining to the outside shorts.
• Cut 4” off hem. Serged.
• Turned and top stitched.

AFTER:  Perfect RanchHouse summer shorts for the husband.

AFTER: Perfect for Grandpa's summer days at the RanchHouse.
Or maybe a cruise?

The Smothering Denim Dress

Hello Refashion Co-op. I refashioned this denim dress recently. It was pretty straightforward and simple.

This dress was so long and shapeless, I am smothered in denim.

I really liked the embroidered flowers. So pretty! The dress was in good shape and well made so I knew it would be an easy refashion project.

I made a BIG cut in the skirt. It really needed to be shorter. I also removed the waist tie. It tied in the back but it left the front loose and shapeless. It didn't make the dress any more flattering so it had to go.

I gave the bottom a new hem and added a belt to cinch in the waist. A real belt worked with this dress much better than the narrow little waist tie it had originally.

I Can Work With That

Lace insert on sweater

I've had this brownish sweater for several years.  It was always on the small side- tight and short.  I cut off the bottom ribbing from the rest of the sweater and then sewed on thick lace between the two pieces.  Now it is a little longer, and I LOVE the lace insert. 

But, sadly it's still too tight and still a weird brown color.  Somewhere along the way I lost a button and I don't have the heart to replace them all for something I won't wear.   It was fun to play around with lace, even if it didn't end up being something I love enough to keep.
