Imitation Chanel

Hello Refashion Co-op. I found a fun ad fabulous Chanel style suit at a clothes swap recently. No one else wanted it so I took it home. I knew it needed some work to fit me better.

Before and after.

I decided to make a vest for a couple reasons. 1.The shoulders of the jacket would have been difficult to take apart. 2.The jacket was so long I didn't need the shoulder fabric anyway. I placed the pattern on top of the jacket so that I could keep those front pockets and that front button on my new vest.

The skirt just needed a big cut at the bottom. I didn't hem it I wanted the frayed edges that Chanel sometimes has on their suits. The fraying took quite a while.

I really liked how it all turned out. Thanks for reading along, for more pictures and details go to I Can Work With That.

Removing a Cowl Neck From a Sweater

Hello Refashion Co-op. I started with this cowl neck sweater. I cut the neck off this sweater in my last post so that I could make a tube top out of it. It worked great under a low cut dress. But what about the rest of the sweater?

It's a cowl-ectomy?

I had a plan to fix the neck of the sweater and I explain it here. When I cut the cowl neck off I left about 1/4 inch of neck fabric.

I wanted a simple long sleeve t-shirt and it turned out just like I hoped. It was perfect for this plaid skirt. Thanks for reading along, for more pictures and details about this outfit and other refashions go to my blog I Can Work With That.

Make a top bigger & upcycle with embroidery

It's been raining all day here, it's hard to imagine I wore this top last week! Summer seems so far away now... Anyway, that makes it the perfect day to sit behind the computer and share this summer top refash with you!

I sewed this top a few years ago and made a classic beginners mistake: I forgot to wash the fabric beforehand! And since the fabric is mainly cotton, I paid a high price... it shrank too much in the wash and I couldn't wear it anymore. Such a shame, because I really loved the print on the fabric! That's why I decided to give it a size more and to add a little extra. Enjoy, and feel free to leave your beginners mistakes in the comments!
