Hi Everyone!
So, today I am coming to you with a different type of post. I need an idea on what to do with a garment as a Christmas gift for my boyfriends mother..
She gave me a BEAUTIFUL vintage robe that belonged to her mother for me to refashion into a dress - she insisted that I make something for myself with it, but I will have excess fabric that I would love to use to make something for her for Christmas but I have no idea what
I don't have an actual picture, but it is similar to this one:

And up close, the print look EXACTLY like this:
The fabric is gorgeous, but I want to avoid clothing as I worry about making it fit without measurements (And the fabric is so fancy, I'm not sure where she would wear it)
ANY ideas would be awesome!
Thank you so much!

Depending on how much fabric is leftover you could make her a scarf of some sort. Jewelry is another option, maybe make flowers out of extra and turn them into a brooch or you can make a necklace for her (I've been meaning to do this with my scrap fabric: http://www.sassandcrafts.com/2012/01/men-necktie-turned-necklace.html)
Good luck! That's really thoughtful of you.
Small clutch or purse?
Depending on how much you'll have left, a tree skirt? Something specifically for the holiday? Ornaments or a wall hanging incorporating other holiday colors? I also like the idea of a scarf or wrap...beautiful fabric, I think no matter what you choose it'll be a win!
I think it would look (and feel) lovely as an infinity scarf, if she's a scarf person. If not, I like Lauren's idea of a little purse, or maybe a drawstring bag for make-up/jewelry.
Makeup/toiletries bag? I have a similar situation with a small piece of beautiful brocade too. I think most women can use a pretty, fancy makeup bag, right?
How about using it as a background for a framed photo of her mother?
Again, depends on how much fabric you have left, but other than accessories of course, maybe a 'fancy' apron for christmas, if she cooks in the kitchen, or a wrap skirt if you have enough fabric. wrap skirts are great if you have a vague idea of measurements, and its adjustable to the wearer!
Love the idea of a dressy clutch that she can bring at all of her Christmas party.
parties. Sorry! I hate auto correct.
I'm jumping on the infinity scarf bandwagon! One size usually fits all and a scarf makes a great gift. If she's not a scarf person, then I vote for a small clutch or purse. Good luck!
How about a cosy shawl and a keepsake cushion with a pocket holding a good book and special photos. The fabric looks luxurious. Cx
This is beautiful fabric. I think a wrap would be a nice way to showcase it, and it would be perfect for the Holiday season.
