A Dress For Autumn

Hello Refashion Co-op. I am always trying to work my way through my pile of refashion clothes. My goal is always the same. I always aim to make something I like without buying anything but thread. If I could find a way to get free thread, I would be set for life.
I discovered that these 3 shirts coordinated really nicely so I put them all together and made a dress.

I started with these two knit shirts. The burgundy shirt fit well but the multi-colored shirt was a little big on me. That was great for making a skirt. I wanted it to have a loose fit. The floral shirt had an elastic waistband that would make a great waistband of a skirt if I just flipped it upside down. I cut the sleeves off and made sure it was even in length all the way around the skirt.

I used my machine to stitch these two pieces together and I had a dress. I liked it but the skirt was curling up at the bottom. It was too short to have any curling making it shorter.

I had a solution for that in the refashion pile. This blue knit shirt was so pretty but it was too small. I saved it because I liked the lace trim so much. I figured I could use it for something someday. I cut the lace off the shirt.

It was really quick and easy to put this lace at the bottom of the dress. The lace added weight and made the dress look more finished. It also added about an inch and a half in length. I love the dress, the colors look great for Autumn too.
