Giggle, you're so very right: I too could never understand why people hardly ever had a 'closer look' at bedding/sheeting as 'blank canvas/base material' for sewing purposes.
In your special case here I bet, the nice dress is even very comfortable to wear, since quite some countries rather opt for pure cotton instead of a poly(ester)-cotton mix for their beddings/sheetings.
