Dress Upsized and Upscaled

I got some great clothing from my sister. Which were good labels and nearly new. But size 8 which I am not anymore…I took this great dress and another which I had from my days of too tight, too short, and too low. Put them together and bang. Well you’ll see it took a little more effort than that.

This is the neat size 8 and I sat here on my bed and ripped the seams up both sides from hem to sleeve hem. My cat Gorda helped me as always...

Then the other dress and some black scrap I may use may not…? You be the judge.
I cut Up the side seam of the second dress about 3 inch wide strips with both seams I got four long piece strips. I used the already made hem and lined it up with the other dress right sides together. I took the other piece and lined it’s hem up with the sleeve hem. There they meet at the armpit and all is good. then sew the back and front pieces together. more details @ uggysburtnest@wordpress.com

So here is my question for you… ? Should I border the bottom in the black oh and should I add a bow to the back…?

Sundress Or Maxidress=Mock Wrapdress

A too short sun dress and a too revealing top on a maxi dress.
Cut the top off the maxi and then cut a section about 18 inches thick. Next about 4 inches from the arm holes cut the sun dress straight across into two sections.

Next I found a great edge stitch on my new sewing machine. O:) Thanks to my big brother in Christ Jim.
Then join the top part of the sun dress to the top part of the tube right sides together. This stitch has stretch so it worked great. 
Thought I’d show you a picture of my new machine. It is a singer LCD with air controlled pedal. And when i get the top down Jim and I are gonna take it for a ride. O:) just joking Jim said it was fully loaded!!!

Well then rights sides together sew the bottom of the sun dress to the bottom of the tube piece. You do need to be aware of the seams and keep them aligned with each other. Now the section I call the tube was a little larger on the bottom section because of the taper of the maxi dress, and lack of taper in the sundress. So there was a over lap of fabric to one side. Well I used the straps for the maxi dress to make a belt and tied the dress off to that side. It came out great. Sorry about the wrinkles I wanted you to see the finished work.

Awww you got a little kitties shadow under the dress, and there is a close up of the belting . Seeing it like this I gotta say it looks better on because it hangs great and hits the right length.

Love Pink...Blue and green?

Hey everyone sorry I have been away and silent for awhile. I have been sewing. My sister gave me this great sweatshirt but I have a few already which are slip-on you know over the head type. I decided to refashion and share the fun. So I went to Wal-mart always low prices. I was going to just go buy a coat at the thrifts but they actually have gotten outrageous as far as prices go. $3.00 heavy duty well you know it was $2.97 but of course tax puts it over $3.00 any way… It has a big front pocket… and I just cut up the whole front…

I used some green fleece I had from a pair of sweatpants I  cut up previously. I made two strips about 3 inches wide and 22inches long that I used to trim off the front and then I sewed the zipper to them. Really qucik and came out great. I had to tuck the top part of the zipper down and sew it. After I was done husband says why is it love pink…? It’s blue and green…? Guess that is a good question…? But it looks cute and I am happy. I will be snuggly buggly for sure!!!

Faith-filled Refashion

Here I am again with another refashion. This time my sister in Christ who is doing great losing weight. She has now taken the big sizes out of the closet. Well I told her I would love them to refashion, give to my sister, or send to Cuba. When I was looking through the bag I found this ** can you picture the stars in my eyes!!! I have been to two women of faith events and love them.
So as you can see I had itstarted in my head and went to cutting before you could take a picture of it whole. But, you get the picture. I cut off the sleeves and then cut the  collar strait across. Next i needed to get more length to form into a T shirt dress. So I opened the sleeves up put the wide part that was a raw edge right sides together with where the collar was cut from. Now this was rounded from where it formed a sleeve but I used both one for front and one for back.

Now to figure out a collar ok so I put the one I cut off back on and cut out the neck opening.

Had to use my dress form to get it to fit my curves and this is how it came out…

So what do you think? I am going to trim the neck and sleeves at first I did not think I would need to I liked it as a gardening yard house dress. But I love it and want to where it everywhere. So I will continue to build this dress as I wear it and add to it daily!!!

Panty hose =Tube top

Well in the winter panty hose is a must… But, in the summer we must cover the bust. After winters wear and tear on panty hose they are pretty useless. Not any more. I have noticed being newly married well almost two years and a Christian for almost five. As I shuffle out winter to summer clothes there is a few things that I can’t believe I wore. Well I have gained weight so I am more bustier. But, I don’t feel comfortable wearing those dresses too high cut or too low cut. Here is a way to reuse those Panty hose and turn them into something great. I won’t show you the before of my dress on me. But… first we take the hose.

With the run and a pair of scissors. Funny how that purple water bottle is always in my photos…

So now they are cut straight across the crotch and then a zig zag stitch done around the crotch end. Now it is a stretchy tube a little sheer but not totally see-thru. so i put the finished edge from the original hose on top. and my zig zagged stitched one on the bottom.
It does got a few runs but I am working that out by the placement as well as the addition of laces, ribbons, gems. I will be posting more much more!!!
Here is the finished tube with a very contrasting dress to show it off. As well as, my next post about the new bird bath I made!!!

Undone and redo Gypsy skirt

Here is today's redid undone.

The before is rather large and long as well as stretched out.
The after is very versatile. Can be worn as two pieces or one. I took out the inner lining and some of the waist. I took off a layer and then reattached. I did not take pictures of every step but now it is wearable.

Here is the finished outfit as seen when I wear it out of my yard or on the street. I don't want to walk around with my belly showing on the street only in my own yard. What a contrast to the girl I used to be.

Moo Moo dress- to Meeeow

Lots of things changed my size being one of them. Marriage, surgery, diet, lifestyle. Needless to say last summer stuff doesn't quite fit this year. Also I am not liking the weight I am at, and the look of married woman conservative clothes. However being married does change one to dress more appropriate.
I had not done this sort of thing since High school. Cindy Lauper and Madonna were famous and putting  together different pants and skirts was in. Also using zippers and pins in crazy places. I look forward to doing many more.

Mother's Day Outfit Mishap

This is what happened to the pretty outfit I got for Mother’s Day. It has i sleeveless shift dress with a same length jacket. (Church is always cold.) Pointing no fingers at the landlords cousin who had to use that expanding caulk to fill the vent he put in my dryer room. When and how isn’t the problem getting it out was. So Here goes…

Dryel solvent… nope… Goo Gone… nope…Amway solvent(not pictured) but, nope anyway…
Hmmmmm not one to give up so away I went. Under the bed to storage there for wonder under fusible webbing, glittler puff paint, scissors, and the Be Dazzler!!!

Well I decided the mini one would work best for this application. With the strip of fabric from a skirt I shortened I got a great paisley piece. With the left over I made a scarf to go along with it. I can wear this as a more fancy or played down. The dress I shortened can be worn under for more summer day. Scarf is interchangeable for both dresses and works well with lots of my wardrobe. Now to press it all and get it ready for Mother’s day service.

I hope and pray in Jesus’ name if you have a mom or if you love a mom that you let them know. One day from the next we are not guaranteed tomorrow. I was blessed by being able to tell my mom I loved her, to bless her and tell her how beautiful she is and always will be to me. I have been on cloud nine ever since. Thanks be to God!!!
