Hey so I picked up this large mens flannel shirt for $1.50 and made a skirt and a vest for myself and a wallet for the boy!
The skirt was made using the sleeves for the front and the back of the shirt for the back piece. I opens using the original cuff snaps ;) the vest was made with the front pieces and piece left over at the bottom of the back..not quite enough so I added a scrap of sheer polka dot fabric to the upper back which I love! I also made a little bow and a wallet from the extra scraps & collar! I have saved the front placket/snaps incase I can find a use for it!

Creative Challenge Month
Hiya! This month I've challenged myself to make something everyday..mainly trying to focus on refashions to get my creative juices flowing and make my way through some of my "to be refashioned stash".
I am enjoying the challenge so far and hope to keep the motivation going...
I used two old tops I didn't wear much and made them into a mini skirt. The black top as the skirt, the polka dot top for the waistband. I then used the top part of the polka dot top along with some fabric from my stash to make a pin-up inspired dress! I hope to use the leftover bodice from the black top soon too!
As always you will find all my refashions over on facebook at Made with Love by Hulibug

Recent Refashions
Hey Co-op! June is over half way through and I just realized I've not yet shared a refashion! These are a few of my recent favs...
This refashion started as a pair of unworn patterned tights...I cut off the toes and the crotch. Hemmed the new raw edges (which then became my sleeves and neckline) and added straps to create a top perfect for adding an extra layer of warmth (without bulk!) over the winter months here in NZ.
My next refashion started as a gorgeous wee vintage wool dress I bought at a Theater garage sale for $3. I love the colour sooo much but the fit was all wrong. So after a number of alterations I now have a gorgeous winter coat!
And my last but not least more winter warmers! Two old tops I'd not worn in awhile both refashioned into more than 1 new item..a cropped top & leg warmers from the black top. A mini skirt, wrist warmers & a beanie from the stripey jumper (both tops were orginally thrifted too and worn in their original forms ;)
Thanks for looking..as always you'll find me here on Facebook ;) xx

Bleached Jeans
Hiya!
One of my fav ways to refashion jeans is to tie them up and soak in a bleach mixture. My latest experiment was with black jeans... after the bleach they were awesome orange & black but I'd be dying to have red jeans so after the bleach they had a red dye bath and they turned out amazin! love them!

Another vintage sheet refashion...
Hello! I don't think I'll ever stop loving refashioning vintage sheets.. On Saturday I decided to whip up a nice light dress as our autumn still seems to think it's summer!
Vintage sheet from my stash (thrifted a year or two ago for less than $4) & I also already had a perfectly matched invisable zip in my stash so it was meant to be! I decided to give my lil dress a high square neckline at both the front and back and I made a very long sash to help give me some more shape.
When using vintage sheets you'll find the middle to be much more worn, faded and thinner than the outer edges so that's where I try to get most of my pattern cut from!
I'm really happy with how it turned out :)

Easy peasy top refashions
Hi! Today I'm gonna share a couple of super quick transformations! The 1st top was thrifted for 50c and downsized, added lace to the shoulders a shortened to make a sweet little tank top.
My second quicky refashion started as a $1 retro bodysuit. I knew I'd never wear it as is so after a chop and a hem I now have a very funky collared top!

Mad Hatters Tea Party
Hiya! This weekend I had an awesome time away celebrating my beautiful friend Niki's 30th birthday and it was a Mad Hatters Tea Party!
Of course I left my costume planning until the last minute! I bought felt top hats for my boys and let them choose ribbon & feathers from my stash to decorate them:
I decided I wanted to wear a mini top hat so I created one using a paper cup, felt (I thrifted a large piece for $1 awhile back), hot glue, ribbon & funky bits & buttons all from my craft stash. I was rather impressed with the outcome..do you think I could get away with wearing mini hats for everyday wear or what?!
I wore my mini hat with a thrifted vest, thrifted crinoline, refashioned cami and studded belt.

A new year a new dress!
Happy new year everyone!
For my 1st refashion of the year I took one pair of thrifted mens pj pants and turned them into a sweet summer dress. This refashion was spur of the moment without a pattern so ended up being abit of "trial & error" but I'm pretty happy with the end result.

Fashion Show!
Hiya! Last week I had the awesome experience of being part of a fashion show put together by the amazing people at The Incubator in Tauranga, New Zealand. Myself and 17 other designers were given a mystery parcel of fabric/linens/doilies/ties etc to make a garment fit for the runway! We all had a month or less to come up with our creation..my parcel contained old aprons! some in less than ideal condition..thread bare/oil stains/ ripped but I decided on a concept and ran with it...
Doesn't my model, Olivia look amazing in it! Beautiful mermaid girl! To see all the official photography from the night including the winning designs and the rest of the fashion show (which I even modelled in too!) taken by the awesome photographer Shawn Rolton at pushinguppixels click HERE
It was such a great experience and I actually cannot wait to do it all again soon!

1st Day of Summer in NZ
Hiya! To celebrate the 1st day of summer here in New Zealand I decided a sweet lil summer refashion was a must!
I bought this huge shirt for 50c and transformed it into a simple, comfy, throw on over your bikini mini dress!

Table cloth skirt
Hiya! Yesterday I bought this vibrant retro print round table cloth from an oppy for a fiver. I knew straight away I would turn it into a fabulous skirt and this morning I did just that:
