Oversized Infinity Scarf and "New" Skirt in One Chop!

I started off with this not so exciting, but not so aweful knit skirt.

One simple chop gave me this over-sized infinity scarf, remniscent of one I saw at Lululemon:

....and as a bonus I was left with this mini:

2-for-1 Cozy Refashion

This rather boring knit skirt was a little uninspired:

I decided to make it a little more interesting.  With one big cut and 2 small seams I created not one but two refashions!  I made this slouchy dolman style top:

And as a bonus, I used the leftover fabric to create this cozy infinity scarf!

No-Sew Blouse Refashion

I started off with this crazy looking silk blouse:

Yikes!  This one's a bit scary!  What's with the striped sleeves???

I turned it around and tied it up to create this:

The Blue Jumpsuit

There's just something awesome about taking something truly terrible and making it into something cool.  Here is my piece for today:

I had to laugh when one of my readers on my Facebook page said I looked like I was about to "infiltrate an 80s ER"!

I snipped out the shoulder pads, chopped off the legs, un-stitched and resewed a few seams.  I added a belt and wound up with this:

Much better don't you think?

Denim Diet

This a very simple, but practical refashion.  I have lots of old jeans that are just a little to flared (circa 2004!) for my liking.  I have one pair in particular that I just absolutely loved as they were super soft and fit like a dream.  But, they were just a little bit too wide in the ankles, so I haven't worn them in ages.

Simple solution: I used my favorite pair of skinny jeans as a template and and took in the legs.

Now I have a pair of jeans that feel great and look a little more fashion forward!

Sailor Stripes

I scooped up this droopy T at my local charity thrift shop.

I liked the stripes and the idea of the epaulettes on the shoulder, but it just wasn't working.

It needed to be taken in, big time.  The epaulettes were just kind of sitting there, providing no function and were just not doing it for me aesthetically.

I took the shirt in on the sides and sleeves.  Then I removed a couple of inches off each sleeve.  I removed the buttons and the bottom part of the epaulettes.  I resewed the epaulettes to the under side of the sleeve and reattached the buttons.

Here is the final result!

Much better!  The T is fitted and the epaulettes have a bit better placement I think!

Fall Refashion

I started out with a shapeless dress (top?) in a cozy fall colour:

I took it in drastically down the sides and all the way along the sleeves.  I trimmed the bulk and took a bit off the bottom, which I made into a sash.

Here is the result!

'Teal We Meet Again Dress

I loved the pretty teal hue of my choice for today’s refashion.  The dress itself however, not so pretty.

It’s awkward length and boring cut were not doing it for me.  Not to mention that it was about three sizes to big!

I removed the sleeves, took it in and lopped off the length.  I gave a little detail to the straps and here is the finished product:

Kimono Kool

Hello all! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend.

I wanted to make one of those cool kimono style shirts you always see in People Style Watch magazine.  So off to the thrift store I went and found this:

Not so cool!  As you can see it's a tad large for me!

Not to worry as I had a few tricks up my (rather large) sleeves!  I removed the collar, took it in at the sides and added some satin trim and here is the final result:

From Frumpy to Fab!

The project I'm going to share today is actually my second project.  I'm so excited about it I couldn't keep it under wraps.  So I bumped it to the front of the line!  Here it is... check out the before:

Before

I started by chopping off the top portion of the dress, folding over the raw edge and stitching it up.

After I pressed the newly sewn seam, I turned the piece upside down, stepped into it and tied it at the shoulder.  This caused the hemline to become asymmetrical, which was all part of my plan.  I added a belt and voila!  This piece went from frumpy dress into a hot little number!
