Polo Refashion

If you saw my glass' post, then you've already seen this shirt (which was done a while ago). I've seen many polo refashions before, but I haven't really had any men's polos to try them on, until recently when the husband got rid of a few.

The Ballerina Skirt Tutorial

Ok here it is finally, the Ballerina Skirt tutorial! In case you missed the previous post about the skirt (here). This skirt is made out of curtains and a left over white knit shirt. 

Basically, I just cut 100 inches in length from sheer curtains and gathered it to my waist size. I then made a quick lining out of an old t-shirt and attached it to the curtain skirt. Then I sew those to parts to an elastic band. Seriously, it was such an easy skirt to make and it is SUPER comfortable.

Stripes and Color block shirt

Another great shirt floating around pinterest is this sweet color block and striped shirt.  However, the link is broken, so I have no idea who made it. 

I came across two brand new shirts at Goodwill, one striped and one solid, and decided that I could just make the shirt myself. It was the easy shirt ever.

Ballerina skirt made out of Curtains

So for a while now, I've been doing a bit of pinterest picture hoarding (let's be honest, that's what it really is) of tulle/ballet skirts. I just love everything about them. They seem so versatile; wear it to a nice event or put a  cardigan on to make it more casual. Basically I've been really wanting one. (go here to see the rest of my picture hoard ; )

Recently, my sister passed on some sheer curtains and they were the perfect material! And thus was my ballet skirt born.

Thrifted Leather Bag Transformation

I recently found this leather Samsonite bag at goodwill. You'll never guess how much they were asking for it, never. Seriously, it was a thrifter's story book situation; the kind I've only heard about and read about. Stuff like this never happens to me. never

Blazers are cool

My latest thrift store find (actually from a couple of months ago) was this blazer. I was inspired by this one here. Basically, did you know that blazers are cool? because they are cool.

The patches were tricky to add, but so worth it because patches are cool (you know you want some too). All I need now is a bow tie. My brothers wear bow ties, because bow ties are cool. Yes, basically, everything about this blazer is cool, which is why I now need a bow tie.

Belt Refashion Challenge

Upon moving, my sister was getting rid of a few things and one thing was her husband's old belt. Brigg didn't want it, but we couldn't let it go to waste now...so my sister challenged me to make a headband or something out of it. I came up with a headband, bracelet, and watch.

To Infinity and Beyond Scarf

I really like stripes and I like scarfs.  As luck would have it, I just happened to find a striped shirt in the pile of "giveaway or redo clothes". Thus, inspired by this scarf here, I came up with this simple infinity scarf. Nothing fancy or original, but comfortable and a bit of relaxed class.

Cardigan Refashion + Thrift Store Tips

Since living on a tight budget, I've been learning how to change up my wardrobe without spending much. I recently discovered that our Salvation Army here occasionally does a $5 dollar bag sale at least once a month. Basically any clothing items you can fit in their plastic bags, you get for $5 (jackets and shoes are an exception)...its a sweet deal.  I finally caught them on one of their $5 sale days and scavenged for what I could find. It is a tiny SA so it lacks good selection of clothing. However I've finally learned the best ways to thrift shop for clothes. This whole outfit (minus the pants) came from that one trip to the Salvation Army. The shoes were extra but only ended up being $2!! steal!

Shirt to Skirt

I love stripes. But I haven't worn them in a while because I was once told that you shouldn't wear stripes because they can sometimes make you look...well you know. But, lately I've been seeing lots of stripes out there and decided to heck with looking...you know how....and I really wanted a striped skirt. Well, I had this striped shirt that I didn't enjoy much because it was big on me and fit me funny. So i had this genius idea of making a skirt out of the shirt.

Sweatshirt hoodie to stylish sweater-like pea coat

I have many hoodies. I mean TONs of hoodies. Most from high school, and many just because I'm from the Northwest and sweatshirts are the thing. My husband was excited for me to do this little refashion, even though I'd still have the same amount of sweatshirts in the closet.

My sister challenged me (here) to do to a sweatshirt refashion as done below by Dee.

So, finally I hit up the local thrift store and by luck found a brand new extra large black sweatshirt. I didn't take any before pics, so you'll have to trust me on this one. Also, by more luck, Dee made it easy for me and recently posted a tutorial for her sweatshirt refashion. So, I guess I didn't figure it out by myself, but I'm totally cool with that. Beyond cool actually, because secretly i dreaded the idea because what Dee did was perfect.
