Saving a dress from oil stains

Hello, fellow refashioners,

It has been a while since I have done any refashioning. I seem to be focusing on home improvement items lately. Anyway, I have this very comfy dress but sadly it got oil stains on it.

I don't know about you but I have never been able to get oil stains out of clothing. So I opted for a more experimental route.

You can see the process including some mishaps in the video below.

Mostly it was just an experiment with bleach and believe it or not more oil. :-)

Upcycled T-Shirt - Men’s Tees to Women’s Baby Doll Top

Hi There Refashioners,

I haven't done too many re-fashions lately. I usually find myself fixing some piece of furniture that one of our dogs or cats have damaged. :-)

But I finally made this simple shirt refashion using some men's t-shirts to make the ruffles. You can view the full tutorial in the video below.

Hi all,

Last week I made a simple bleach t-shirt design. It was a fun project so I decided to see how far I could tack the technique. In this video I share some more tips and several more projects.

Upcycled - Felted Dryer Lint Minnie Mouse Ears with Faux Wool Roving

Hi All,

I guess I am calling this a "Headband" refashion hopefully you will forgive the stretching of the rules a little here but I wanted to conclude My Minnie Mouse Costume Series.  Sorry no before pictures but I am pretty sure nobody needs one.

And since I am stretching the rules a little I will also tell you that I used some dryer lint to make this project so technically it is a refashion of a whole bunch of my clothes and towels and sheets.  :-)

You can find the tutorial here.

Happy Halloween!

5 Minute Simple Scarf to Poncho to Scarf Re-fashion (Wear it 4 different ways)

Hi all,

I haven't been doing much sewing lately.  Where does the time go?

Anyway this is such a simple refashion even I had time for it :-)

Sorry I don't have any before pics but I figure most folks know what a large rectangular scarf looks like.  All you do is fold the scarf in half.  Measure 12 to 14 inches from the fold and stitch from that point to the end of the scarf to sew the two sides together.  There are a few more pictures here.  The short video above shows how easy it is to go from one look to the other.

Little Shoe Makeover

Hello All,

I refashioned these shoes a couple of weeks ago.  In my head they are part of a whole outfit.  Time will tell if I can get the rest of the pieces out of my head and into the real world.  I am planning for it to be a summer outfit and since it is snowing here today I am not feeling highly motivated.

Woeful Wardrobe Week 2 - Skirt Refashion

Hi All,

I am so ready for the warmer weather and here is the first piece of a new outfit I have in the works.  I used some chiffon from the bottom of the black dress but a couple of square scarves would work for this refashion as well.  You can fin more photos here.

Refashioning a refashion - Kaftan to Sundress - Upcycling T-shirts

Hi All,

Don't know if you remember but about a year ago I made this kaften dress from some old T-shirts.  I always liked the way the color blocking went together but it turns out I am not really a kaftan person so I never wore it.  I had the black top from a different refashion.  So with a little cutting and sewing I made myself this sundress.  I think I will get more use out of it now, but I have to wait for the snow to melt here to find out.  :-)

You can see more of the process here.
