first dress

i found this material at one of my favorite thrift stores a few months back. i love that it has an old vintage look to it. i thought it was really pretty, so i couldn't pass it up. there were around 4 or 5 yards (??) & it only cost me $4!!

i've kind of been on a sewing from scratch kick lately. so this is what i made with that material:

my first dress!

as you can see from the first picture i still have a lot of this material left over. trying to figure out what i want to do with it next. hmmm? any suggestions?
i made the victory pattern ava dress right after this one, also with some thrifted corduroy material. you can't go wrong with thrifted material!!

the striped thrifted shirt

remember my muumuu? the thrifted fabric i added to the length of that refashion is the fabric i used to make this shirt. i used the new look 6895 pattern.

first shirt made! overall, fairly successful project.

happy sewing/refashioning:)

hot pink + polyester = dress to skirt refashion

when i saw this dress,

i fell in love with the bottom & knew i wanted it as a skirt.

i love the pleated pattern, the color & it's super comfy.
if anyone knows how to do this pleating & would like to share.....
please do!
i don't understand what to do to make the pleats stay for good??...
after washing & such.

happy refashioning:)

gathered skirt

about a month ago, a friend of mine found this skirt while we were thrifting one day. you can see that originally the skirt had two buttons left side of waist and it had pockets. it hit about mid calf.......and i'm not a fan of that length.

here is what it looked like before:

and here is what it looks like now:)

i just love this skirt! for more pictures and a tutorial, come visit me!

muumuu into shirt

i have always really liked the wild and crazy prints used to make muumuu's. i found this one at my favorite local thrift store here in sonoma county & figured i could do a shirt and a skirt; which i did both but i am happier with the shirt. so that is what i am posting. here's the before picture:

i added some different fabric to the bottom of the shirt. this is what it looks like now:)

hummmmmm???

the only reason why i bought this dress is because of the neck line. i just loved it the minute i saw it hanging there, oh so lonely. wishing that someone would bring it home, give it a makeover and love it from then forward.

i love how it turned out. especially since this is my first refashion! check out the after pictures here:)
