Pink vintage pattern and a pink refashion

I often use the fabric from a garment, rather than refashioning the actual garment, but I like working both ways and the latter does so much of the work for you. This time I managed to do both!

This time I realised I could use the sleeves and cuffs as they are, the buttoned cuff is what made me think of double buttons for the front and I only had to recut the sleeve to match the length of the vintage pattern piece.

Trimmed the seam to cover the fix

Added front trim to match the back

This is a nice fit with the repaired leggings from last month.

One New Shoe

Hi All,

Good Golly!  It's been awhile since I have done any  refashions.  But I finally got this project done. Well technically half done.  :-)

Wool and Leather

I have a big brown bag I refashioned from a leather jacket last year, but I've been wanting a black bag since brown doesn't necessarily go with everything. So I pulled out this black and white houndstooth, 100% wool, men's suit jacket which I got for free a couple years ago.

I sketched out my own pattern and cut the pieces from the jacket, salvaging the original pockets for the front of my bag. I also cut pieces for the lining from some fabric I had in my stash, and I added fusible interfacing to everything for extra stability and structure. When I assembled the wool pieces, I also inserted into the seams some strips of black leather from a previous refashion as a sort of piping accent for my new bag. An old black leather belt became a new strap.

Color Block Dress

I combined 2 shirts and 1 dress  from my stash to make a color blocked dress.

                  

I drafted a continous front yoke using the back of the plaid shirt. The front of the brown shirt became the back.
