RanchHouse August Sewing Goal:
  • Mend, alter, refashion 10  Casual Dresses for Town. This is #9.
Going to Town Dresses are:
  • Made from Pre-retirement garments that do not fit Retirement lifestyle.
  • Good for lunch with friends, errands, shopping.
  • Unfitted, Cool, Comfortable. Texas September is still hot.

After:
Casual Fall Transition dress.
Goal: Refashion from pre-retirement stash. I do not need dress-ups.
I need casual,

Before:
*Navy Skirt: Favorite worn with jackets/sweaters to the college for many years.
*Linen Top: From a garage sale in Italy, Texas. Pronounced Itly. After I bought something, they said, "Three for one." So, a freebie!

After: Casual Fall Transition- Going to Town Dress with fall colors. September will still be very hot. Can be worn with a jacket and leggings on cooler days.

Steps:
*Skirt: Remove waistband/elastic and serge. Skirt was still long enough after sewing onto top.
*Top: Cut sleeves from original peblum. Keep original hem on sleeves.

After:
Casual Fall Transition dress.
Before: Favorite work skirt.
Top from garage sale.

This looks so nice and cool. Nothing to bind or be close to the skin. Just right.

We just got home from the country feed-store, post-office, and café.
I wore my "new" fall dress with sandals. It was fun to wear and perfect for country errands.
