High Waters No More!

 No more highwaters, please!!

I've been seeing highwaters around lately, but I just can't handle them coming back into style. I'm slightly on the tall side, so I have a hard time getting pants that are long enough and sometimes they start off ok, but after a few washings start creeping up my legs until I realize that I'm ready for a flood. Like these rainbow pants I bought in high school almost 20 years ago. (20 years ago?! Yikes!!)

No more highwaters, please!!

Or my skinny little kids' pants. It's nearly impossible to get store-bought pants to fit them right because they're so thin. They'll inevitably be long enough but too wide around the waist, or perfect around the waist but too short. But fortunately, there's a super easy way to fix this...
No more highwaters, please!!

And in just a few steps you can have sweet new pedal pushers or shorts, perfect for the summer! (If it'll ever get here. Boy is it chilly!)

No more highwaters, please!!

I prefer sewing them, but if that's just not your cup of tea, you can even make this transition with scissors and an iron!

No-Sew Summer Clothes Alterations

You can find a full tutorial on the sewn versions on my blog or a tutorial on the no-sew version on my guest post here (both tutes are in English and Italian)!

My sister in law showed me to take the kid's pyjamas with long sleeves and legs and change hem by shortening the sleeves and legs to give them a further season's wear. It was a brillint trick and has saved me quite a few pennies, and the kids love having their favourite jammies for a bit longer!

Yes, it's a great trick, especially for kids who grow super quickly! :)
