Hello Refashion Co-op. I needed to dress up for a wedding and had a pretty dress I wanted to wear. I just loved the colors and the design of the material. And the jeweled collar was gorgeous.
I used my seam ripper to remove the bodice of the dress. It was too tight and had to go. It was easy to take apart. There was a separate waistband and I left that attached to the skirt.
Here is the collar/neck piece. I loved the fake jewels attached to it and wanted to use it in my new top somehow.
I used a plain black T-shirt to make a shirt with that pretty collar at the top of it. I made what turned out to be a triangle or halter style top with the collar at the neck. It was the same idea as the original dress but my top had more coverage and I could wear a regular bra with it. It was also the right size for me, that was probably the most important part.
The shirt is just tucked into the skirt so I can wear each piece separately if I want. It was perfect for the wedding. I added a sweater because it was a little cold that morning.
