Old Fashioned Dress to Jacket

This one was fun to make, and I have a little extra fabric left to make a headband for my daughter.

I started with the longer dress & cut out shoulder pads right away. (I hate those things!) Next, I cut the length and bunched the extra fabric around the waist to create a gathered look. I sewed it down and took out the zipper. I left the dress bow tie on so I could choose to leave the jacket open or closed. I love both, but the open look is my personal favorite. MuuMuu to Dress

I had the chance to thrift shop in another state in the past couple of weeks and it was refreshing! I'll let you read more of those details in my original post. (Link at bottom!)

My eyes hit this floor length wonder and I just knew it was calling out to be refashioned! Check out the pictures below!! I had a fun time with this one! Please excuse the mess as always.. and the lack of my head being in the first picture. My three year old is still mastering is photography skills.

Well life has truly gone crazy on my end of things and I'm just now getting to catch up on my refashioning. I've made about four new items to show off, but I haven't gotten the chance to wear them out.. so with that being said, I am going to show off one of my earlier refashions that I am currently enjoying with this spring time weather! :) And I promise I will be uploading 2 or 3 refashion during the month of May! :)

Here are the pictures and for more on this transformation you can check out the original post here!! :)

Double Layered Shirt Slim Down

The Month of March has been crazy hectic for me, which is why I am posting on the very last day.. but I made it and that's what counts! Since I've haven't had a lot of time to focus on refashioning ( that's going to change this week).. I went with a simple refashion slim down where I took the layers of one shirt apart and created two new shirts from the original. You can see the first transformation here.

It was as simple as a few cuts and stitches!

Small Robe to Perfect Dress

Today is my birthday!! YAY!! & so I"m sharing one of my favorite refashions that I am going to be wearing today. I feel fancy! :)
My cousin who is as thin as a poll passed some things onto me.. You know, just maybe I could squeeze into her old wardrobe. Well, that didn't happen.. So I donated most items to a few people that I knew could use them, but I did keep this fancy little piece because I saw some potential for making myself a new dress... At the very least I knew I could make a shirt from it. First I decided the length of the dress and began cutting and then I added a piece of white material that I had randomly lying around to create the closed top.( ignore the mess .. ) ...Next I hemmed the bottom to create a shirt and then went onto the skirt. I really liked having the option to wear the two pieces separate, but when put together it looked like a dress.

After some touch ups and a little altering .. Here you have my finished look.. And please excuse the boring background... And freezing look on my face.. Mississippi decided to have a little bit of winter for a change!!

I hope you'll check out more of this refashion post HERE :)

Man's Shirt to Girly Top

This week I've been working on making this manly shirt a little more my style. I didn't want to lose the boxy feel.. I kind of like that on me for some reason, but I did want a little more of a girly look to it. Here are the pictures of my entire process and you can check out exactly how I did this by checking out my original blog post.  I just loved creating this look and I adore the pattern. Oh and a sweet hello from my crazy dad! :)

Hello There - New Here :)

Hey there! I'm Kari. I'm a mid-twenties wife of one handsome husband and mama to two sweet littles. I enjoy crafting and photography as well as singing and of course refashioning donated and thrifted items to create my wardrobe. I've always had the mindset that if I can make something, I won't usually buy it and refashioning clothing has not only brought out my creative side, but it has really given me the opportunity to save my family money and challenge myself. I am very excited to be joining the Refashion Co-op team & can't wait to show you my adventures of refashioning.

I wanted to share one of my recent updates since I just started my Project 52. (My personal goal of making at least one refashion item a week for the entire year of 2015.)

Please let me know what you think and feel free to check out the full tutorials of these refashions on my blog.
