Introducing ReFashion First Friday!!

OOOOOH! So what is ReFashion First Friday?? Well.... it is a new blog linky party we are starting here at Refashion Co-Op! We know that everyone can't be a contributor here and keep up the once a month posting schedule but we want to actively engage the refashioning community. So we decided to have a once a month Refashion Oriented linky party here on Refashion Co-Op, where people can post their refashions. So the First Friday of each month we will have a linky party where you the reader can put your beautiful Refashion link here on our blog!

Here are the rules, they are the same as if you are an author on Refashion Co-Op.

- The link must be Fashion Oriented (see side column for more information)

- The party will be open for 1 week to add your link

- The link must be for a specific post of a refashion, and not to your general blog

- You can not post a link twice (i.e. the same link every month)
- You can not post a link to a refashion you have already wrote about on our blog (if you are an author)

Any one can post!

We really look forward to seeing other people's posts on our blog and engaging more people of the Refashion community!

Looking for 2 more daily editors

Greetings Refashioners!

We here at the Refashion Co-Op are looking for 2 more eager editors to fill the 2 daily editor spots. We have had several editors become moms and have had to take some time off to tend to their family. Though we are very excited about their new additions, we are need of 2 people to fill their spots.

We have 2 spots for the following days: Wednesdays and Fridays. The shifts begin at 12am GMT time and end at midnight GMT.

The duties of this position include: logging in on the day of your shift and answering pertainent emails. Logging in posts, checking that links work, editing tags, checking for appropriate content of a post, and sending emails to those whose posts may need editing, etc. Sometimes you have to be the bad guy and send emails. Sometimes you will have to read emails that may not be the nicest. :)

The requirements are: be familiar with the blogger platform, be familiar with google docs, and be available during the shift day.

We are looking for some eager and excited to refashioners to continue for this blog to run as smooth as possible. We are also looking for someone long-term, so if you know you are starting school, moving, etc within the next few months, this may not be for you.  Because of the great editors we have here at RFC and we split up the work, RFC runs smoothly. :)

A word from your Editor

Hi Refashioners and Refashion Co-op readers.  It is Erica here, one of Refashion Co-op's Daily Editors.  This is just a quick note to mention to all of our contributors, that we've noticed quite a few blog posts lately that have been great upcycle projects, but are not really focused on fashion garments. You are all very talented, and we love to see your projects, but we'd like to keep Refashion Co-op dedicated to fashion related transformations.

Editors wanted!

Greetings Refashioners! As you know, Refashion Co-op is growing by leaps and bounds, creating wonderful refashion projects on a regular basis. But what many of you don't know, behind these blog posts is a series of editors that keep everything running smoothly and spreading the word. We are currently looking for 3 more editors to help our blog running smoothly. We are loosing a few great editors but looking to bring on a few new faces and continue the watch our community grow... :)

If you are interested, we are looking for 2 Daily Editors and 1 Membership Editor. A daily editor's roles include answering daily email, double checking blog posts, and logging in posts for your day. It is a once a week commitment. Membership editor's duties include signing on new bloggers and making sure everyone posts 1X a month. Time commitment for membership editor is every other week. Knowledge of using the blogger platform a plus. Additionally, knowledge of google docs also a plus.

Both roles will of course be trained and you have the rest of us editors as your support staff! :)

Next challenge: maternity clothing

Hi all! Just a quick word that we're running a "maternity clothing" challenge around here from now until Saturday, October 8th. Whip Up will be featuring a guest post by our very own editor Eddie, who will talk about maternity clothing, refashions, and Refashion Co-Op, so we thought we'd run a little maternity clothing challenge to welcome readers from the site!

So if you've got any maternity refashions that you've created ... or are in the process of creating ... for the next two and a half weeks, we'd love to see them! Use the "maternity" and "challenge" tags to flag your post!

Oh yes, and we received a great suggestion to post these challenge pages as a separate page up top on the blog. I am working on that! Not the tech savviest person here, folks, but I will figure it out in the next couple days and get on it. Any more suggestions - please leave a comment and let us know!

New Weekly Challenge: Seasonal Transitions

For our next challenge, we're looking to the shift in weather for inspiration. Whether you're in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere, what better way to welcome in the new season than with some fresh duds? Accessories, tops, bottoms, coats or shoes (for the adventurous!) ~ what's on your wishlist for Spring or Fall? And what will you make for our next weekly challenge?

Challenge starts Sunday September 4 and runs through midnight, Saturday September 10. Please indicate "Seasonal Transitions" in your post to be considered an official entry.

What are you thinking of refashioning? Are you filling a wardrobe gap or satisfying an urge to try something wild and different?

ReFashion Co-op has grown in leaps and bounds since February. There is lots to do behind the scenes, and the editors try to spread out the work so no one is inundated. We would love to have some additional editors to fill in, and to perhaps take over some special projects. Are you comfortable with Blogger, Google Docs and social media? Want to join our team?

Quick Administrative Notice

The time has come! There are now too many invitations to author sent, and we are up against our 100 author limit!

I had to start removing those of you who asked for contributor status, but haven't yet accepted. It is entirely possible that I made a mistake and eliminated someone who truly hasn't had time to accept yet. If so, I apologize! Please send an email and I can re-invite you.

But remember, we do require that all contributors post at least once a month, and we are keeping track :)

We will be starting to remove our infrequent posters soon. If you are busy with life right now, that's ok! You can ALWAYS request again later. But if you need a deadline to get sewing...here it is!! What are you waiting for?

Streamlining things around here!

Hey everyone! Jenni here (editor on duty today...)

We've decided to eliminate the Contributor Page in favor of the wonderful introductions you've all been making. If properly tagged, with your username and "introductions" then they will be easily searchable AND you each can update or repost new info about yourselves. The Editors hope this will make it faster and easier to meet each other, and visit new blogs!

Also, please note that ONLY approved tags are shown on the left side of the blog. There is currently no search bar. So if you want your posts listed in categories you MUST use the approved tags. If you think we are missing an important tag, please shoot us an email!

As a reminder, this blog can only accommodate 100 Authors. We require each of you to post at least once per month to stay as an Author/Contributor. Once we hit that 100th person, we will need to start deleting those who don't post. You can always reapply later though. So if you are refashioning, get posting! :)

Thanks so much to all of you contributors and readers. There has been so much support for Refashion Co-op we are soooo excited! Keep sewing!
