Upcycled Bleach Design T-Shirt

I had so much fun with my last bleach t-shirt project I had to try it again.  You can see the somewhat confusing tutorial here.  Sorry my pictures aren't great and sometimes I don't get photos of key steps.  It's all part of the crazy creative process I guess.

I have to admit that I was a little afraid that I was going to mess up with all the bleach detail.  I had more quotes that I was going to use on the back but I was happy with the front and decided not to tempt fate.

Scallop Hem Jeans Cutoffs/Shorts

I created these shorts when trying to come up with an alternative to the usual jeans cutoffs option. Granted, they took a bit longer to create than simply cutting the legs off a pair of jeans, but I think the extra investment of time has paid off with a more interesting looking final garment.

I doubt any of the talented refashionistas who 'hang out' on this site would be in need of instruction if they wished to recreate this look, but if you are interested I made a tutorial for this project which can be found here

Happy refashioning lovelies,

What to do?

This is one of my all time fav blouses.  I sewed from scratch last year. The fabric is cotton. The design is a background of muted blueish gray and beige with an over print of arabesques.  The buttons are shell.

It fits really well in all dimensions except for one. It  needs to be 2 inches longer.  I've been pondering how to add to the length with a simple, attractive detail at the hem.

While searching for possibilities I noted Zappos is offering this simple white cotton blouse by Kate Spade.

The perfect solution!   A  2 inch self ruffle, gathered at a 2 to 1 ratio.

Thanks for watching, result to be posted soon. Iris

Men's Button Up Shirt to Baby Romper

Aren't men's button up shirts great? There are so many things you can do with them, and I found another great way. I made a baby romper out of one! I used the original front button placket and the sleeve hems. It's fun to keep some of the original details! In the process of making this, I also drafted a pattern for my readers! Check out my sewing blog to get the free baby pattern and tutorial.

Pillow Case to Summer Top

Hi, I'm Debbie from Virginia and this is my first Refashion Co-op post.  There are so many talented contributors here and I have learned so much from everyone. I'm excited to be part of such an amazing group!  My blog is On The Banks of Stony Creek where I blog about living a rich life...frugally. I'm fairly new to the world of refashioning, but it fits right in with being frugal.  I hope you'll come on over to see how I transformed a jersey knit pillow case into a summer top.  Here's the before.....

...and the after.

I'm also currently doing a year-long series, 52 Weeks of Goodwill, where I feature different items that I purchase at Goodwill Stores.
