Big, Big, Big

Hello Refashion Co-op. It's very cold here, Winter is back and she isn't playing games this time. I had some warm hand-me-downs that I liked, but were too big. They needed some adjustment.

I needed to make the sweater a little smaller. I marked my cut in the picture below. This cut caused a LOT of frayed edges. I used bias tape to cover and hold the edges. It was easier to sew the bias tape than it would be to try to stitch through the loose knit sweater.

It made little short sleeves and pulled the waist in a little.

The tan corduroy pants are too long but I like the flare legs.

I also made a couple tucks in the sides of the waistband. These pants fit in the hips but the waist was a bit big. The tucks made the waist taper in nicely.

The tucks are on the seam so they don't show from the outside. You can see the tucks in the picture below. I also shortened the pants a little too.

I thought the brown shirt was a little big but it had no stretch so I didn't want to make it too tight.

I used thin elastic and threaded it through the hem of the shirt to draw in the waistband of the shirt.

The new fit on all three of these items is much better. And I was comfy and warm in the cold.

Your new outfit looks great. I am feeling spoiled right now as it has been unusually warm in Colorado this year. Stay warm. :-)
