Embellished Jeans

Hello Refashion Co-op. I love distressed denim but I recently had a problem with a pair of jeans. When I took the waist in, it caused the distressed spots to move to the new side seams.

I knew distressing at the seam would rip open easily so I had to find a way to cover these spots. I decided to use some trim I had on hand.

I cut around the flowers and used them to cover the distressed spots. I used a zigzag stitch to make the edges of each flower patch strong.

The Dressed-up Button-down

Hello Refashion Co-op. I have been refashioning some shirts recently. I started with this pink/lavender shirt first.

I cut the back and the sleeves out of the shirt.

I replaced them with some knit purple material left over from a maxi-dress.

I also added some fun trim.

I Liked how it turned out and the knit material is very comfortable.

Jumpsuit to Romper

Hello Refashion Co-op. Summer is here and it's hot so I am thinking about summer clothes. I found this jumpsuit at a recent swap and when I saw it I thought it would make a great summer romper.

This romper had a really large keyhole opening that I could not model for you. It was just all open. I closed the opening so I could wear it in public.

The next big change was to cut the pant legs off and hem them into shorts. I took the sides in a bit and I was done.

This fabric was very light weight and the denim color is easy to wear with other things.

Lime Green

Hello Refashion Co-op. Summer is here! It's time for fun summer clothes. I loved this lime green dress because the fabric was so pretty. The top of the dress did not cover enough of me so I had to do a refashion so I could wear that green fabric.

I unzipped the side zipper all the way down and cut the top of the dress and the straps off the dress.

I used a zigzag stitch on the raw cut edge and there was enough fabric to fold down once. I tucked the cut ends of the zipper in and under at the waistband. The zipper will still work as normal but it was a little rough looking. That's OK, I am not done yet.

I connected the straps together. It was going to make a very nice cover-up for the waistband.

I used my sewing machine to stitch the waist tie on top of my not-so-nice looking waistband.

The tie ends are tied right over the zipper. This will reinforce the zipper and hide it from view.

The waistband looks like a nicely sewn waistband. No one can tell how many short cuts I took while making this skirt. Shh, don't tell on me.

Saving a dress from oil stains

Hello, fellow refashioners,

It has been a while since I have done any refashioning. I seem to be focusing on home improvement items lately. Anyway, I have this very comfy dress but sadly it got oil stains on it.

I don't know about you but I have never been able to get oil stains out of clothing. So I opted for a more experimental route.

You can see the process including some mishaps in the video below.

Mostly it was just an experiment with bleach and believe it or not more oil. :-)

Happy Upcycling,

Cindy
