Rock-A-Baby

Hello Refashion Co-Op!

It's been a while and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the lovely editors for letting me continue to post, inconsistent as I have been. I'm attempting a sort of self-recommital to all thing sew-y and blog-y starting, of course, with a new refashion!

Super simple women's shirt to baby shirt, but with epaulettes! And we all know how much I love shiny things! Thanks again ladies! I've been keeping up while I've been gone and you're all so inspiring. I'm so happy to be back at my sewing machine.

"We Can't Stop" -inspired Refashion

Hello Refashioners!

I've been told a few different times that I dress like I belong in a music video which makes sense since I watch hours of K pop mostly for the fashion (though I've recently started really enjoying the music as well). I love creating unique pieces inspired my music video style!

Here is my most recent music video inspired piece from Miley Cyrus' We Can't Stop.

There's a tutorial on my blog, and it's super easy!

See you soon :)

Dino-Summer

Hello lovely refashioners! Did you miss me? I certainly missed you.
Today I have the latest installement of my refashion series Wildeman Holiday Refashion 2013. Summer solstice is around the corner (can you tell how much I like sewing?) and clearly Wildeman needed a new outfit to mark the occasion!

May the craft be with you.

The Sonic Dress

For day 1 of Me-Made-May 2013 I wore my new favourite dress, made from a thrifted children's bed sheet. 1 day down, 30 to go. Who else is participating in MMM '13?

Ninja Baby!

Another baby refashion from Mikelina...shocking.
My 5 month old weighs as much as most 18 month olds, I couldn't possibly sew fast enough. But no way is a crazy growth spurt going to mean that Wildeman isn't the coolest looking baby I know.

Not much of a tutorial for this t-shirt refashion unfortunately. I had to turn this out fast just so he had something to wear. I'll try to document the next one better!

Graphic T to Garter Belt!

Lingerie refashions are my absolute favourite, but there's a tragic shortage in the blogosphere, a problem I aim to fix! Also, I love graphic Ts. Love. Especially cheeky ones.

Full tutorial over here.
Unrelated, but I just want to say how lucky I feel to be a part pf this huge, colourful, creative, brilliant, inspiring community of refashioners. You all rock.

Sweater Socks

Hello everyone! I've been away from my blog (as well as all of you lovely refashioners) for just a week but it felt like a month. I feel silly saying I'm glad to be back, but I am. Anyone else spend waaay to much time surfing the refashion online community? Anyway, on to the socks:

They started life like this (but less cut up):

My Easter Picnic Dress

Hello mighty refashioners!
Hubby and I are starting a new Easter tradition this year: a picnic brunch in the park. Do you know what that means? I needed a picnic dress. I made this from a L men's button down and I am absolutely thrilled with how it turned out! A tutorial will be up very soon. It'll be right over here.

The Shabby Bunny

My little bunny is all ready for Easter! I've been doing a holiday challenge over at my blog that will continue all year. The Shabby Bunny is the latest instalment. This project was made of the scraps from tonnes of old refashion projects. I seem to have a thing with putting my baby boy in purple!

It went something like this:

Check out the rest over here and happy Easter!

Criss Cross Back T-shirt Refashion

Hello everyone, Mikelina here and guess what? I finally made something for myself! I told you there was an adult refashion on the way!

This refashion is way easier than it looks and it took me about a half hour all in. There is a bit of a tutorial on my blog, but you mostly have to follow the picture to make it happen. Be brave refashioners!

This post is the third of my 6 week refashion challenge. So far the other two are (big shocker) baby clothes but they're super cute!

Tutorial over here.

Have a refashionful day everyone.

My Other Pants are a Kilt

Hey folks,

Mikelina here with another baby boy refashion. I swear I do occasionally sew for my husband and I, and I'll prove it...eventually. For now here is my Sew-vivor audition and Wildeman Holiday Challenge post for St. Patty's day.

It's a 6 piece formal Irish suit. Jacket, vest, white shirt (onesie), bow tie, kilt and sporran. Made from a women's shirts, skirt and pants plus some scraps I had lying around. The whole thing cost me under 7$. Yay for thrift store sales!

There really are adult refashions coming soon!

Baby Boy Harem Pants

Hey Refashioners!

I am participating in the Sisters Share it All: Pinterest Challenge. The idea is to choose 6 pins that you have left to get metaphorically dusty in cyber space while you do other more important, probably less fun, things, then do them all in 6 weeks. I'm feeling good so far because it's week one and this is #2 but we'll see if I can keep up my momentum.

My Little Valentine

Hello everyone,

On my blog Mikelina Makes I'm challenging myself to create a themed refashioned outfit for my little man for 12 different holidays this year. The rules are that every item must be refashioned, the whole outfit may cost no more than 25$ and I must post a tutorial prior to the holiday. Starting with Valentine's Day I made...

The Jack of Hearts

My total cost for this one was 0$. Yay for clearing out my fabric stash!

Check out the tutorial for the shirt here
and the pants over there.

Happy Valentine's Day everybody!

Mixing it up - Baby Boy

Hello everyone,

I did a refashion for my baby boy this week that served the dual purpose of being a costume for a 20s party and being a sew along with Project Run and Play. Third purpose? It's officially my favourite thing I've ever made.

With these (+ a polka dot necktie):

I made this:

I love how adorable my little man is in this! Tutorial over here.

Baby Button Down Shirt from Women's Shirt

Hello Riveting Refahioners
(alliteration is cool)

Anyone ever notice that almost all baby clothes seems to be smattered with cute fuzzy animals? Seems like overkill to me. My baby is already cute, he doesn't need bunnies! He needs...purple gingham!

Tutorial over here.
More stuff over here.

Men's XL Flannel to Women's Fitted Shirt

I'm so happy to be back at refashion co-op! I feel very lucky to be among so many talented and creative refashioners.

This is the first refashion I've done since my baby boy was born in November and it felt great to have old cloth under my hands once again My sewing machine actually purred when I turned it on.

Anyway, get to the goods Mikelina, the stuff we're all here for.

I picked up a men's XL flannel shirt in black and white gingham at a thrift store and decided to try my hand at tailoring. I think I did pretty good considering (read about considering on my blog)

Men's XL to Maternity Tshirt

Hey everyone!

I'm Mikelina from Mikelina Makes

This is my first posting on refashion co-op. I've been spending so much time here getting great inspiration that I thought it was time to reciprocate!

My first baby is due in November and we couldn't be more thrilled however I am so disappointed with the selection of maternity clothes. What's wrong with women feeling sexy and awesome while bumpin'? Nothing!

And that, my dear friends, is what sewing machines are for.

This is one of my favourite maternity tops now. I wear it all the time!
