The Vivienne Westwood Riding Hood

As you all know already, I fell into a vat of superior wool-cashmere-silk mystery tweeds at my local op-shop (it's called Emmaüs here) and I also picked this poly-wool tartan that I paid €2. Slated to make a coat muslin, it turned out pretty good and I couldn't bear to throw it away so I lined it and made a reversible coat with it. The whole Vivienne Westwood Butterick 9214 saga is right here.

In more thrift shop tweed news, I did make that vest for MrC.

It'd be perfect if I had put the breast pocket on the left side which is the right side! The story is here.

I fell in love with the print!

Hey me again ;) I bought this skirt for $5 from the Sallies...it was a sz 20! but I loved the print and knew it would make a sweet dress...
I decided to keep the elasticated waist as the top of my strapless dress so I cut off the excess fabric from each side and the bottom. Then I made ties from the piece cut from the bottom of the skirt & saved the blue crochet trim from the old hem for my stash. I sewed up the sides adding the ties in the side seam under the bust, overlocked the seams then gave the hem a skinny rolled hem. Then I tried it on and found it now fit me perfectly as a skirt!
That was a total fluke! But an awesome one ^ _ ^ The long ties wrap around and tie in the front. And here it is as I intended it to be... worn as a dress
I'm soo happy I bought it as I almost put it back! Wearing it this way I've wrapped the ties twice around then tied a bow at the back
I'm loving Refashion Co-op by the way! It's awesome to have a place to share with like minded individuals =)
So keep up the amazing work ladies =) Peace out Huli

Convertible dress

Hey! I decided to make a couple of convertible items of clothing...I love garments that can be worn many ways.

I knew I had to have this fabric when I found it at one of my local op-shops :
$1.99 for 2m ^ _^ I love bargins!
I also knew I wanted to make a dress from it but it wasn't till this morning I decided to make a convertible dress...this is a very simple dress to make with only 4 pieces: circle skirt, waist band and two straps...there is an easy to follow tutorial here. Heres mine:

I love it! I'm definately going to make another in this style when I can find myself some suitable fabric. I've made a couple other convertible dresses using a different pattern and they always get alot of compliments and are very fun to wear :)

I would have taken more pics if my rechargable camera batteries would actually stay charged long enough...grrr. So I will post more pics on my FB page sometime this week aswell as the convertible bikini top I made but didn't get a chance to photograph!
