Hello fellow upcyclers/refashioners! I've returned from an extended stay at "home" where I grew up in MI and am in a little slump after getting back. Not motivated to get back to every day life :( But, I have been working on a few simple refashions, and I'm going to share one today.
I bought this top in a size large (can't pass up a great clearance price), and due to the fact that it is of the flowy oversized style, it slipped off my shoulders, showed my bra straps, and wasn't getting much use. So, I took a length of gold chain that had been an extra purse strap that I had laying around, sewed 3 loops into the neck of the top (2 in front and one in the center in the back) using some scrap fabric, and ran the chain doubled up through the 2 loops and clipped them to the third. Here's how it turned out!
The chain, even doubled up, ended up being a little bit too long and didn't lay quite right, but I fixed that simply by twisting it around on itself in the back. You could use an extra long necklace not getting much use, a long scarf, a sash, lace (will be doing this soon), you name it...get extra creative and use an old bike chain (cleaned, of course ;)) or a long strip of studded fabric/leather. No more slipping off one shoulder, and with the use of a strapless bra, the chain acts as support for the top and a pretty cool accessory. Just a little edge for an otherwise basic top. Hope you like! I'll be posting a few more super simple refashions in the next day or two, so keep an eye out :) Glad to be back to refashioning and seeing how super creative you all are!
Peace,
Andrea

It is a really cute top and the colour is glorious. Love how you solved an annoying problem and glammed up the top at the same time.
What a clever use of the chains to adjust this top - it looks so much better now!
