It all started with a Paul Sherman Beatles shirt being given to me. I knew I had seen a lot of tutorials on the web so I thought a nice outfit for my daughter. Finding one to turn the sleeves into pants was easy but I couldn't find one that didn't mean a lot of work for the top. They all really deconstructed the shirt using it like fabric but I wanted to keep the hem, the buttons and the collar as these are the details that take time. So I thought for a bit and decided that I would make the top a kimono type yoke and then gather a length of the bottom to the yoke. After hemming the makeshift sleeve with Fold over elastic I had a great top in less than an hour.

I used ribbing/strong jersey as the waistband instead of elastic for a little more comfort.
