Earth Day / Birthday Jean to Bag Refashion

My good friend Kevin turned 40 on Saturday.  He is a huge supporter of my craft.  He very kindly gives me all his old shirts and jeans because he knows my love of fabric and refashioning.  I wanted to make him a nice gift for his birthday and with all the Earth Day celebrations in full swing, I knew I wanted it to be a refashion.  What better gift to give than a pair of his old blue jeans refashioned into a functional bags that he will use for many more years to come.  And what better way to celebrate Earth Day by recycling an old pair of jeans.

I forgot to take a before picture of the jeans, but you all know what a pair of jeans looks like.
Here are my materials all hacked up:

I wanted to make him two bags, a cosmetic/toiletry type bag for travel and a drawstring bag.

I used one pair of jeans for both bags.  I used lined the denim with fusible fleece.  I used a nice water resistant sport nylon for the lining.  I also added a small zipper pocket to the inside of the drawstring bag to store his headphone wire and phone.

He really enjoyed his gifts.  I like the way they came out, too.  You can find more information and links to the tutorial I used on my blog.

Happy Earth Day Everyone!!!!
We all are making a difference with every refashion we make!
Keep up the great work everyone :)
