Make shorts from bed sheet scraps

 

When summer hit hot and hard at the end of June, I suddenly realized that I had hardly any summer clothes for my little boy. I generally make my own patterns by tracing garments that fit well, but I just couldn't resist buying Dana from MADE's kid shorts pattern. I made good use of it and in good refashioned form, using only upcycled fabrics. Bed sheet and duvet cover scraps, an adult t-shirt and an abandoned button down shirt became four pairs of shorts and pants with pockets made with this pattern.

For my first pair I used some scraps from a green and green/yellow Hawaiian style duvet cover.

I had fun playing around with the pockets to see how I preferred them.

These shorts are pretty simple sewing and make comfortable and useful summer wear. We found them to be perfect for beach outings, especially when steep climbs were necessary!
