Make shorts from bed sheet scraps
When summer hit hot and hard at the end of June, I suddenly realized that I had hardly any summer clothes for my little boy. I generally make my own patterns by tracing garments that fit well, but I just couldn't resist buying Dana from MADE's kid shorts pattern. I made good use of it and in good refashioned form, using only upcycled fabrics. Bed sheet and duvet cover scraps, an adult t-shirt and an abandoned button down shirt became four pairs of shorts and pants with pockets made with this pattern.
For my first pair I used some scraps from a green and green/yellow Hawaiian style duvet cover.
I had fun playing around with the pockets to see how I preferred them.
These shorts are pretty simple sewing and make comfortable and useful summer wear. We found them to be perfect for beach outings, especially when steep climbs were necessary!
For more details about this pair of upcycled shorts and my opinion of this particular pattern, take a peek at my blog. I'll soon put up tutorials on how I made the other shorts and pants, as well, so keep an eye out for those!

So glad you like them, Maren!
Yes, Agy, they are very cool in the heat, as are the others that I made that I will share soon!
