Celtic bag from a preloved dress

Have you ever discovered a dress so gorgeous that you bought it on a whim because you knew that it would come in handy?

Yep.  Me too!

I didn't know what to do with it until I asked a friend what she'd like for her big birthday and then I *knew* - make her a bag with this dress...

So I took the bottom of the dress, cut it off underneath the band and turned it upside down and interfaced and padded it to within an inch of its life.  I relish using as much of the original item as possible so I added the waist ties as handles and made an internal pocket out of a squished sleeve (I was very proud of that!)

One happy refashionista.

One happy friend!

There are more details and photos of this and other refashions on my blog at Sew Selena
Enjoy your refashioning!!

Fabulous use of that print! I, too, buy items, particularly dresses and long skirts, just to acquire the piece of wonderful fabric, because there will always be an idea, eventually, for how to use it.

That is lovely! The pattern looks fab on the bag, it was a bit lost when it was dress you couldn't really see it. Fab job, well done.
