Quick skirt to top

I had a few old XL maternity skirts lying around. Since I am no longer pregnant or XL, they were super huge on me. This one had a lovely pastel plaid in a silky fabric.

I wanted to make a one-sleeve shirt, but I needed to take in the waistband for a snugger fit under my arm. I stitched along the pin line below.

I also folded the waistband in half so that the neckline wasn't so wide. Then, I stitched a seam up from the bottom hem and back down, making a triangular shape, I cut out the fabric between the seams to make my sleeve. For some reason, my computer insists on rotating the picture sideways.

It turned out very well, I think. I am not sure what else I can wear it with besides jeans, however, and it has been WAY too hot for that. Maybe I will try it with a denim mini skirt soon.
