I am thrifty and prefer to refashion my clothes or thrift store finds, rather than bying new clothes. Partly to save money, but primarily because of corncerns of sustainability.
I think of myself as being of a creative nature, and like to experiment with all sorts of needleworks and crafts. That reflects in my refashion projekts.

Many years ago I bought this silk skirt, wore it once and never again. Wrong size, wrong length (and it couldn't be shortened og altered due to the applique). But beautiful silk and colours.

I recently decided that I had to either refashion it or part with it.
I found a dress pattern (Ottobre 5/2012 no. 16) and used the bodice pattern for the bodice. Then spent about 100 years making my skirt fit the bodice - and me. The finished product:.jpg)

This is a nice combination. The applique is really interesting and unusual so it has been great that you have been able to retain it, by making it the highlight in this refashion.

As it happens I also have fabric cut out for the same dress.
Your dress really looks wonderful - love that you got good use out of the pretty silk skirt.
