diy sewing big tote bag

Hello, in this DIY/ thrift flip video I sew Big Tote Bag. I bring you step by step tutorial on how to upcycle too big leather skirt and refashion it into Handbag with Zipper. I'm very proud because I used only recycled materials. If you have the possibility try to use recycled materials as well because productions of many materials take liters of water and destroy our enviorment. If you will take care well of your leather bag , you'll be able to give it in future to your granddaughter !. Well cared leather with time starts to look better and better. So let's fell in love with green re/fashion.

No Sew Tank Top

I have been wanting to tackle this no sew project for awhile now!

I am in love with this Michigan Great Lakes shirt but never was a fan of how it fit!

I began by removing the bottom hem.

I cut off the collar and began snipping away at the neckline until I was happy.

Next on the chopping block were the sleeves!

There we go! A new t-shirt to tank top! Perfect for the 90 degree day!

Easy Wide Legged Pants

Hello Refashion Co-op. I have been liking the looser wide legged pants and would like more in my closet. My daughter passed these pants on to me and the had a fitted elastic ankle. But there were wide legs hiding in there.

I started by cutting the elastic ankles off the pant legs. I hemmed the loose legs and I was done. That all they needed to be new wide legged pants. I was pretty happy with them.

I wanted to wear this greet t-shirt with my new pants but the shirt was big and boxy. The V-neck was too low and there was a spot of paint on it. So many problems. I made a new seam down the front of the shirt. It made the shirt smaller, the V-neck less low and allowed me to cut the paint spot out. It was a 3 in 1 fix!

When I wore the shirt I turned it backwards and tucked it into the pants. It was a great combo.

Kentucky Derby Hat 2021

We have arrived to the 147th Kentucky Derby! I am so excited to share this years hat with you!

I had this old wool hat laying around. Yes, it looks too drab to be a Derby hat but stay tuned!

I started by removing the brown bow and ribbon.

This year I wasn’t too keen on wrapping a ribbon around the hat. Then I got to thinking…..maybe a row of feathers would be nice!

I started to hot glue the feathers around the hat alternating with purple and blue.

I found this floral arrangement netting in blue and used it almost as a bird cage veil connected to my hat.

Then I started gluing blue and purple flowers.

I almost never have a plan for my hat, I just start gluing and go from there!

how to upsize a dress

Hello, in this DIY/ thrift flip video I upsize a dress. It's super easy and quite fast , you just need elastic fabric in same color like your dress which you want to resize.

The R3fashion

Where I live, coronavirus masking rules are starting to lighten up, and the weather is starting to warm up. So I figured that makes it the perfect time to finally share this refashion about making a facemask/scarf combo! Better late than never, right?

I started with a pair of leggings.

They were a beautiful metallic design, but much too small for me.

With all the length, I thought they'd make a cute scarf, but a scarf is always better if it can be made into a face mask (at least, it has been for me for the last year!).

So I stitched a nose-shaped seam into them, attached some elastic ear loops, and got myself a cool ninja mask!

I called this post the R3fashion because I actually made three things with it. I sewed the scraps into two tiny little boot toppers and a headband!

More details about the construction can be found on my blog!

Hoping no one will ever need this tutorial,

The So Many T-shirts Dress

Hello Refashion Co-op. I had a lot of plain t-shirts that were past on to me. I decided to put them all together into a maxi dress.

My first step was to cut the t-shirts. I wanted the shoulders and necklines removed from the t-shirts. I wanted to connect the body of each shirt together.

I used the smallest shirt at the top of the dress and the largest at the bottom. That would give my dress a gradual A-line shape.

I left the hem on the largest shirt. That shirt would be at the bottom of my dress, and I would want a hem there. The shirts in the middle did not need the hem, it would just be bulky. This dress went together easily and it was really comfortable to wear.

Silk Skirt, Silk Pajamas

Hello Refashion Co-op. I received a pile of hand-me-downs from a friend and in the pile was this colorful silk wrap skirt. It was reversible so you could wear it with the green or the orange on the outside.

I thought the skirt was a little too long on me and the orange and green colors were a lot for me to wear all at once. So I cut the orange layer out of the skirt.

I liked the green wrap skirt a lot. I like green and I love silk.

I used the orange layer to make pajama shorts and a tank top.

Kentucky Derby Hat Revisited

In honor of the Kentucky Derby tomorrow I wanted to revisit the Kentucky Derby hat I made last year for The Refashion Runway Season 5!

The Hat:

I grabbed some fabric spray paint (which is super fun to use) from JoAnn’s. I sprayed underneath the brim with the white paint and the whole outside with the rose gold paint (swoon!)

REPORT THIS AD

Over the years I have accumulated a basket FULL of faux flowers from Michaels, JoAnns, Hobby Lobby and even Dollar Tree! I took a look through my stash of faux flowers and found a few pieces that I think would tie my hat to my floral dress!

I added this beautiful pearl and sheer ribbon I also had stashed in my ribbon box!

While the white paint underneath the brim was still wet I laid the hat down on some white lace material I had and carefully cut the width of the hat out. Let that dry!

I cut 3 long pieces of this silver sparkle tulle and folded them accordion style and stitched the ends together.

Now to fire up the hot glue gun! I began piecing my hat arrangement together. First some pink cattails and the silver sparkle tulle.

Some feathers and blue flowers.

Roses to match the dress material.

Lastly, I finished up adding the flowers and leaves. I always like to make my arrangements on the back of the hat.

I told you making Derby hats is my most favorite thing! Here are my past hats and now my most current hat!
