How to mend (and upcycle) your damaged blouse

It probably happens to all of us, the iron set at too high a temperature and before you know it the fabric is burnt. Oops... Unfortunately, this also happened to me recently. Such a shame, because scorch marks are often very visible and usually unrepairable. Nonetheless, I wasn't going to give up on my blouse so quickly, but how to fix this?

After much thought, I decided the only way was to cover it up with patches or fabric. Luckily, I ran into some elastic lace on the market, pretty much in the same colour. Inspired by those beautiful vintage blouses with ruffles and gathered lace cuffs, I draped the lace along the armholes in little pleats. That would cover up the mark.

Of course, I had to be precise and spread the pleats equally. To make it more intentional I also added lace to the cuffs. That would hopefully enhance the 'vintage lace ruffle blouse' idea I was going for.

I also added lace to the cuffs!

Have you ever made burn or scorch marks on your clothes? And how did you fix it? Please share your solution in the comments so we can all learn from it. Because sooner or later, we all have to deal with it:).

Learn How to Make a Cute and Easy Halter Top from Any Fabric

Hello, fellow sewists!

I’m excited to share with you my latest video on how to sew a halter top with drop neckline from any fabric. This is a fun and easy project that you can do without using any ready pattern. You just need some fabric, scissors, pins, and a sewing machine. I’ll show you how to measure yourself, how to draw the lines on the fabric, how to cut and sew the pieces together, and how to add the tie straps at the back. You can adjust the neckline depth with the tie straps according to your preference.

The best part is that I made this halter top from fabric leftovers that I had in my stash. You know how much I love using up scraps and making something new out of them. This project is perfect for that. You can use any type of fabric, either stretch or non stretch, as long as you make some minor adjustments to the pattern.

My inspiration for this project was the Euphoria serial, which has some amazing outfits and styles. I love how my halter top turned out and I hope you will too.

You can watch the video here

If you enjoy this video, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment. I’d love to hear your feedback and see your creations.

Thank you for your support and happy sewing! 😊

Tablecloth to Cottage Core Top Upcycle

Hello Refashion Co-op. I used an old table cloth to make a top. You might be asking yourself why did I do that? I have had this table cloth for so long (20 years!) that one end got torn and I needed to fix it or I needed to do something like this.

Tablecloth to new top.

I used the McCall's 5352 Pattern and cropped the length to get the top shape I wanted. I cut the pieces so that the ruffle would be at the hemline.

I also attached the ruffle to the sleeves.

It turned out great and I love this tablecloth as a top. Thanks for reading along, for more pictures and details go to I Can Work With That.
